Looks like a nice car, but I'd have to tell a potential buyer to verify the information that's posted about it being "one of the first", special-ordered by a trooper, etc. etc. etc.

I'm not sure where Mike R. got his info about the unmarked cars posted in the FHP Resto doc he has up on ORG, but it doesn't match what this guy is claiming.

Some of the same people who bid on the '86 are bidding on this one, too. The price sure seemed to jump up pretty quick. It's surprising, since the fully-restored MO car on eBay hasn't been able to break the $5K mark yet, and many of the other cars aren't selling, either. :headscratch:

Not HOSTING flippers, as in the people who do it and don't really give a crap about SSP Mustangs.

Hence the reason I "posted" it. Spread the word.

Was looking at this car carefully. Already on its way past my price range. Still looking for another SSP since I sold my last SSP many years ago. Wish I could take that one back! I kept an eye on the 86 also, but thought it was way to much for that particular car. Still looking!

I don't have a personal beef with the seller, him and I just have a different focus towards these cars.

I think you hit the nail right on the head with both these cars. The FHP car was sold by a dealer for 5100.00 and another dealer admitted to helping him out by bidding on it. People can try and rationalise it any way they want but I think we all have a pretty good idea what happened there. The arrogance displayed (by the assisting dealer) after the bidding history was revealed is "synonomous" with this particular branch of the car hobby. Interesting enough, the car hasn't surfaced since allegedly sold. I imagine it will eventually. The bid may have just been an act of good will, to get the auction started but to see the same bidders bidding again creates suspicion in my eyes.

The 89 FHP car is a nice car but again being sold by the same dealer. I am personal friends with a guy that knew the late owner of this car and in fact has showed cars with him. Some of the information (totally undocumented) being thrown around is just sales hype. As for the trooper "special ordering" it for himself you can't pay attention to that stuff as it is not documented in any way other than the seller claiming it in his auction. Probably to generate excitement etc. Judging by the pictures, mileage, color and veiwable condition I believe the car is worth about 6000.00. The fact it is a 5 speed unmarked car is a very desireable feature of this particular car. Naturally that is just my opinion.

The best thing that could happen in this case is a real enthusiast buys the car and gives it the home it deserves. Hopefully it will not end up being passed around from dealer to dealer for the next five years.

For the money the 91 SantaClara car on ebay at 40k miles for 9300.00 is the best buy on the planet right now. That car is pristine and I sold it to the guy selling it and I can attest to the fact he is NOT trying to gouge anyone for a big profit. I would love to have it but the 88 and 89 cars are both blue and AOD so I want my 91 to be something different.

I agree with you about the 91 SantaClara car. That is one nice ride. If I had the cash I would be on my way to get it. Out of my price range right now though. Just looking for a decent daily driver to enjoy day to day right now.
