Who is making it to the Ripon show this year?

Mustang Kid 08-02-2013 02:45 AM

I plan on being there with my restored 97 CHP Crown Victoria and possibly an 84 OSP Impala :D

E435300_SMPV 08-02-2013 11:33 AM

Sounds good Sam, hope to see you there.
#5300 is FINALLY getting the body work done and should see the paint booth in a few weeks. I plan on its first appearance to be at the Ripon show this year.

28HopUp 08-02-2013 12:10 PM

That is great to hear, Ken! Please update us with photos of your SMPV as it comes back together. :D

On a related note, I am hoping to attend Ripon in 2014. Our schedule should be much more open a year from now. :)

Fantastic news Ken!

I'll be coming to Ripon again this year with #3035. With a number of SoCal CHP units possibly making it up to the show this year we may have a record SSP display.

05pwrstrk 08-05-2013 10:45 PM

Would love to be out there again this year but my wife and I will be out of town. Have a great time.

SSPCHPSTANG3101 08-07-2013 01:24 PM

Me my 1993 and another with a 1989 Mustang from So Cal will be there and hoping the 1982 Mustang owned by Harold from the Jay Leno's Garage video will attend. Hopefully my friend with the 89 can pursuade him for this Road Trip from the Southland

Hoping the owner (Matt?) of this '93 shown at Morro Bay in the spring makes it up from the SLO area too.

That is a very clean car.
I tuned in another owner who is planning on attending the event from the Stocton area. This year will be his time there and to show his 1993 Mustang which is currently in the paint shop as we speak. Hopefully he will not be racing the clock on installing the equipment and everything else on the car if his body shop delivers a finished product in their projected time frame.Fingers crossed

mac88chp 08-08-2013 11:00 AM

I'm working on the owners of two restored '93 CHPs in the Salinas area too.

With the Ripon / Menlo Park Emergency Vehicle Show just over a month away (10/05/13) I wanted to let everyone know some changes we've made to the show.

In response to concerns about delays in the awards presentation the entries this year will be judged by teams of volunteer judges who are veterans and experts in the police car hobby. This will eliminate the need for counting over 1,500 votes and greatly speed up the awards process. There will be a people's choice category so participants can still pick their favorites.

The rule about no emergency equipment being allowed on cars in the daily driver class will be strictly enforced. This rule has been in place for a number of years but due to complaints we will step up enforcement by either asking the equipment be removed or the vehicle being moved to another class.
.
Please make sure your car is registered in the appropriate class, every year we have to move a few cars to the correct category which slows down the process for other entrants. Please take a minute to check the classes and determine where your car should be. If you have any questions feel free to contact us. If at all possible please pre register as this will not only speed up your entrance to the show it will allow us to make sure we have adequate room to park the all vehicles in a class together.

When traveling to and from the show make sure you are in compliance with all vehicle codes regarding emergency equipment and markings.

Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the show.

Thanks for the updated information.

Mustang Kid 08-21-2013 01:31 PM

So for equipment on a daily driver, is that just radios, scanners, sirens, and lights? Cause if my dad brings his daily driver like last year it has spotlights, push bar, and antennas.

CLEAR spotlights are OK as are antennas and a pushbar. In other words if anyone was stopped and the car inspected by an officer the car can't have anything they'd get in trouble for.

The intent with this class is to display a car as you'd drive it everyday.

A good move that should greatly help keep the judging and awards procedures moving along. You won't find a better group of experts in this hobby anywhere in the world.

Still wish we had a show like this close to me....:(

Great show Kevin, keep up the good work!! :D

Harold the owner of the restored 1982 CHP (Unit 0209) that was on the jay Leno garage episode was recently provided a flyer and registration form for this years Ripon Show by my good friend John T. from the Southern California area. I received a text message a few days ago from John and he informs me Harold is planning to attend the event as long as his schedule allows. So right now it looks like John and myself will be bringing Harold and his 82 SSP Mustang from the Southland to Ripon this year.

SSPCHPSTANG3101 09-05-2013 02:34 PM

The 1982 CHP Mustang from Jay Leno's Garage.

I dug up another photo of the 82 Mustang Unit #0209.

Well I hope everybody is busy shining up those ponies 'cause the Ripon show starts tomorrow and we have near perfect weather on tap and word just in that there were a record 125 pre-registrations. :2thumbs:

I did my part with 3035 getting an inaugural bath on my newly paved driveway this afternoon and now I'm READY TO GO! We'll be checking in at the LaQuinta by about 3:00 pm then going over to the cruise staging at the Community Center by 5:00 pm. Drive safe everybody and we'll see you all there1

John10608 10-03-2013 11:32 PM

Looks good Mike !

5201 is all washed, vacuumed and loaded on the trailer, trailer and truck washed also.
All loaded up and we are headed out around 0730 in the morning.

A quick stop in Redding to pick up some stuff for my sister, and we should be in Ripon around 1600. Hoping before that to avoid commute traffic.

Agreed, everyone drive safe !
Looks like it is going to be a good show with all of the SSP's attending !

Also, the 1992 that Jim young sold to a Stockton CHP Officer will be there at the show as well.
We'll get some pictures of it for you Jim !

Cya there everyone !
John

Mustang Kid 10-04-2013 12:08 AM

I'm in the bay area right now :D I'll be at the show, but its not worth it this year to put the 09 chp crown Vic in the show.

28HopUp 10-04-2013 06:37 AM

Have a safe trip everyone, and have fun. The latest list of pre-registered cars at CCdC shows 10 SSP Mustangs, so I hope somebody remembers to bring a camera! :)

SSPCHPSTANG3101 10-04-2013 11:36 AM

We are heading out around 11 or 12 at the latest. Mustang and Camera are loaded on the trailer.

No worries, camera is packed and I have my iPhone too. I'll try to get pics of door labels, etc. for all cars too in case they are needed for the VIN project. Group photo will also be in the works.

Gusty winds are in the region today so all trailering folks please use caution in your travels!

I am SO envious I left LA Friday morning and two hours later was on the side of the road with a bad clutch near Gorman. A rush job (after getting parts) by the mechanic had me back on the road Saturday with hopes of making the show. Within a hundred miles the new cable had stretched and was useless. Never seen anything like it I just got the car back and cleaned it up for a what it should have been photo Real sorry I missed everybody and seeing their great cars. Hope to see you at another show real soon

nighthawk756 10-05-2013 10:24 PM

Sorry for your bad luck John....good way to ruin a weekend. At least you have her back together now.

John T 10-05-2013 10:30 PM

Thanks appreciate it and you're right!
I'm already looking forward to next year Those photos of all the SSPs together are awesome

Mustang Kid 10-05-2013 11:00 PM

This year was real fun! Met some more people from forums and some new people, and Dad and I got some stuff for our CHP restorations, a CHP hand held radio for my 97 crown vic along with some lightbar filters, and we bought an NOS FS Smart Vector for $50!
