CHP Whip Clip....and Speaker Help
I still need a correct low band Antenna Whip Clip
Anyone have an extra they would sell or post good pict. with measurements or send me a pencil tracing so i could make one? ALSO need some detailed photos of the SPEAKER mounting for the 85 CHP car Not for a Right side 87 up set up but for a Left side large rectangular cut-out opening set up. any help would be appreciated.:) |
I know Mike Reilly had a bunch of them made and they looked great. Maybe he still has one left over?
|
|
oh..
umm....well then I guess not. |
Rob I have a source for a CHP original. I will work on it.
|
I'd like an original also. Thanks Jim.
Andy, Unless someone here beats me to it, I'll see if I can find the pics of the mount on my '82. |
thanks Jim.:)
|
and Mike!
|
I could use one, too...
Mike is the speaker on the driver's side or passenger's side on your '82? |

That's strange, I'm on the passenger side.

Yeah.....I've seen both on the '82s. Here is a pic.
|
I know that they must have still been playing with the configuration in 1982. Has there ever been a shot of a CHP SSP with a pushbumper? I know that some of the in-service pictures that I have seen of the 79 Camaros, shows them both ways.
|
#0214 got it on the passenger side too:
http://images109.fotki.com/v787/phot...1010572-vi.jpg I've never seen a pushbumper on a CHP Mustang yet. |
The cut out on my car is also on the left side and before paint and during the body prep
I made a PATCH to cover the hole.....so....now (2008) i want to cut OUT the patch And Mount the TS100 speaker on the car BEHIND the hole (in the proper spot). I can fabricate the mount but as a reference i need pictures of how (and to what) it's mounted. to ...so what i would like to see is some pictures of the Speaker mounting and bracket/bracket's ....someone that has taken pictures of the speaker from under the car looking up and from behind and or with the Left Front wheel removed. also...I HAVE seen the 87 Up TS100 speaker mounting on the cars with the Round hole's set up and right side (passenger side) mounting and that is not telling me anything. any help would be appreciated. http://i25.tinypic.com/a5kruu.jpg |

Here you go Andy....went out and visited 0559 today.
This one is from the front cutout looking in at the mount. You can see where it bolts up top. |

One more, where the lower part bolts up. Hope this helps.

Mike,
How/where did the speaker attach to the bracket? Is the outside edge of the bracket attached anywhere? That seems like it would be a lot of weight to ride on there without anchoring the outside edge. |
The holes in the bracket are hard to see in the pics, but they are there.
You can see how the outside attaches in Pic #2. |
Thanks Mike! i really appreciate you taking the pictures and i will look for the holes
that i should have sometime Monday..... Again thanks!:) |
Mine is on the driver side. It's good to finally see what your car looks like Mike. And I am also interested in a whip clip. Just a small item on the laundry list of what I need for that car.
|
I need to update the resto doc with the information about the passenger-side speaker placement. Looks like we've got both out there.
Hopefully Jim's source can get us a bunch of the antenna clips. I posted up a picture in the in-service section of a bunch of '87 cars, and there's a nice shot of the correct bracket (Mike C. has it on his restored '88). Interesting, also, is that the clips are angled over pretty far. http://www.specialservicemustang.net...CHP/87CHPs.jpg |
What is the "wood" looking material? If someone gets me the measurements or gets me one to copy I'm sure I could make some.
|
Here is Mike C.'s clip.
I was told once what the material is, but I can't remember. I have one we could use as a template. http://images20.fotki.com/v247/photo...1010465-vi.jpg |
If you remember let me know, that doesn't look that hard to replicate.
|
Here's the one on mine:
http://images111.fotki.com/v750/phot...1010465-vi.jpg The metal bracket part is not 100% correct, I had to improvise as the one it came with didn't fit my car. The holder piece is non-conductive phenolic material like what electronic boards are made from. |
Found it...old IE link on my old laptop. (I had to dig)

That appears to be 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. If you CHP guys want to buy the material I would be glad to make them. The aluminum is no problem, I have plenty.
|
Thanks, Bernie. I can send you the one I have here to use as a template. I think it's about 1/2 inch in thickness.
Group purchase guys? |
Is there a difference between the early and late? MAC mentioned he had to tweak his.
|
This is the one i Made
http://i27.tinypic.com/33mtytv.jpg but the WOOD one looks like what i need! http://i32.tinypic.com/29qiedv.jpg |

Uhhh...Andy.....we will make sure you get the right one (although I admire your ingenuity). |

one more. this one came from chp so its got a little wear on this side. I used a small piece of aluminum to mount mine.
|
Mike, can you post some measurements of the speaker bracket? I'm getting ready to start stripping my car for paint, I'd like to see if I can get the bracket made up(or if someone has one to part with) and in the car so that the bumper is the right shape.
|
I'll see what I can do...not sure if I can make it out there this weekend, and I'll be in St. Louis next week.
