WI SSP Pics

Attached are some pics of my 1987 WI SSP. Time, $, and other cars have kept this one on a backburner for a while, but it will be off to the body shop soon. Not real photogenic now, but hopefully soon.

Being from the Mid-West, I am loving that car. I see it on the doors, but how much rust does the rest of the car have?

The driver's quarter is the worst, the bottom inch or so will have to be replaced. Driver's floor has a small hole, original trunk lid was really bad. No other holes, just some pitted areas. We'll see what happens there.....

It could be worse, much worse! Cool car, good luck.

Another rare one...I really like the way the WI cars look, too. You gonna restore it back to in-service?

Yep, I actually have all of the equipment, stripes, lights, etc. waiting for it. Most of it came from the shop that built them and the supervisor there was really a big help. Still haven't decided on permanent or magnetic markings due to the shield going under the door moulding.

Definately have some work ahead of you but it will be worth it!

Good deal. You are pretty lucky to have been hooked up with the original stuff.

Yep, George and I have been comparing notes on the two cars. Quite a few differences on equipment and mounting locations. Should be neat to see the two cars together as he is only 45mins away.

The first rule about WSP installs is that there was not much standardization beyond major things like radio type and center console equipment. Beyond that, no two cars are the same. Since the SSP was a limited use car (only one or two per district), I imagine it was even worse in them.

See my Past WSP photos on Flickr:

(BTW, if the webmaster wants to PM me about using the nice photos I now have instead of the crappy ones I gave you a couple years ago that are shown in the gallery, please do)
