Previously used by CA Highway Patrol as a pursuit vehicle. Runs great. GT engine replaced original in 2001 at 60000 miles. Manual 5-speed gearbox reconditioned same year. Oil cooler and hardened suspension. Fairly new tires. New windshield. This car has had one owner for the past 16 years and has been well maintained. Some exterior scratching but easily fixed. Also original tape player inop. will need to be replaced. This is a really fun car to drive. Only selling because we are moving. Contact Martin or Joy at 505 792 1250 or e-mail joymartnm@aol.com. j/k - perhaps it was a package add-on by a used car dealer after the car was auctioned by the CHP. |
i would assume the gold edition includes seats covers, chrome wheel lip covers and plaque on thrunk. :D
|
C'mon guys....you know we are looking at the second "prototype" CHP car ever to surface. :clapping:
Gold medal edition....sure is some funny stuff right there. |
The owner is trying to catch some of the Olympic hype. Problem is, the were no Olympic games in 1987.
|
speaking of prototypes, has that been confirmed yet?

My 82 CHP has that big bracket welded underneath sticking out under the rear bumper and the entire drivers side seat and rear floorboard area has been reinforced with a piece of 1/8 inch plate steel. There isn't any cracks, or other damage anywhere on the floorboard so it wasn't a repair. It was reinforced for some reason. I wonder what my car was used for? Maybe it was an early EVOC car?? I need to do some checking with motor transport and see if anyone can shed any light on this.

I think my '82 was driven on asphalt one time.....maybe it was an EVOC car, too. :)

I just read the entire thread posted earlier this year on the 82 car owned by Mike "VintageRacer". I looked at all 180 pictures of the car and given the location of all the antenna holes, reflective tape, and so on and so on I believe this car was used by CHP. Hopefully some sort of written information will surface to authenticate the car. Without a doubt CHP used 82 mustangs on the evoc course and probably more than one. I believe this car is one of those cars used but there is no way to determine with any certainty if it was the "first of five" or any of those types of claims. The car is a cool car and definatly has some history behind it. Hopefully more information will surface that will be released publicly to put some of the suspicions about the car and claims to rest. Previous owners recollections of what they "heard" from CHP employees are more than likely embellishments of the facts to increase interest and the "cool car" personna of the car.
I hope that all the claims are true because if so it is a great find. Until substantiated the jury is still out. :headscratch: In regards to my 82 with the big bracket welded onto it, I think I will just restore the car as a road unit and be done with it. |
