How Far Have You Driven?

How far have you driven your SSP Mustang? What is the longest distance you have been on the road in your Mustang?

My longest was from my hometown, Lufkin, Texas to Del Rio, Texas. This is about an eight (8) hour drive. About 500 miles or so.

2 miles. Scared I might scratch it.

I would say I have drove the FHP approx. 340 miles one way. I plan on going to Carlisle this week so that will be 435.95 miles according to mapquest.

Sorry, No long distance story for my ssp's yet, since i have only had both for a couple months. Lol

I don't know if daily driven distance counts as my USPS is a daily driven and cared for ssp.:p kept in the shade as much as possible!
My work is only a 6-mile straight shot for me but the USPS has put on 1000 miles since it landed in Tx.

Since we live off the bottom of the map , we do look forward to a northern trip in the USPS , maybe a car event?

Roman - This is a good thread! I've been on several long drives...always when bringing an SSP home.

Albany, New York to Detroit, Michigan = even thru Canada it was a 12 hour drive (over 700 miles). This was with the 1993 Missouri State Hwy. Patrol SSP.

Raleigh, North Carolina to Detroit, Michigan = approx 10 hour drive (over 600 miles). This was with the 1990 North Carolina State Hwy. Patrol SSP.

Minoqua, Wisconsin to Detroit Michigan = 10 hour drive (over 600 miles). This was with the Minnesota State Patrol SSP. Next summer I'm going to drive this one to the Twin Cities for a few diff't activities. If I remember correctly when we moved from Minneapolis to Detroit our final drive here was 12 hours.

All were fun (but very long and tiring) drives with the SSP's. You really get to know them on a drive like that. A 12 hour drive is really at my upper limit and one I don't really every want to duplicate if I can avoid it.

When I bought my 88 FHP I took the train out to Worcester Ma. (never again) and drove it all the way back to Wisconsin, 1175 miles. When I got there the previous owner said the speedo quit working the night before. When I filled it with gas the first time I found out the gas gauge didn't work either. So I drove all the way back w/o speedo or gas gauge, fun. Doug

Mine made it 2063 miles from Albuquerque, NM to Richmond, VA. My brother and I flew in to New Mexico and drove it home. It took 3 days, but we took our time. It got almost 23 mpg, not bad for a 1987. It was a fun road trip and was a good break from work.

When I bought 0381 Columbus, Ohio to KCMO.

Last years trips......KCMO to Birmingham AL. KCMO to Lufkin, texas, KCMO to Indy. This year its going to Oklahoma City, Ashville, NC, Indy and Denver ! With light bar covered it still getting 23-25 MPG & its starting to hurt the old back some !

Last fall I drove my SSP to a private track rental at Maryland International Raceway. I ran down Route 301 through Annapolis, MD, which was an easy 148 miles each way. I might have added a 1/4 mile or so to my overall travel distance once I got there :)

The car never missed a beat, and felt very comfortable on the highway.

As you may already know...I am taking my '92 convertible to Oklahoma this weekend to the MCA National Show there. This will be about a 6 hr drive/400 miles. Looking forward to it. I like driving. But yes, 12 hours/day is about my limit. I am a large man and the Mustang's cockpits have gotten smaller over the years (or have I gotten bigger?).
Anywayz, I used to moonlight as a charter bus driver so driving long shots are a cinch to me.

It's fun to pretend I am piloting my own, personal & privately owned F/A-18 Super Hornet for a trip to somewhere! Fast and smooth, but cramped and fun!

Farthest I've driven #3035 has been to the Fabulous Fords Forever shows at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park for 2007, 2008 and 2009. From my NorCal home it's 365 miles and about 7 hours each way...a long way in an old Mustang but never had problems of any kind.

I don't have an SSP (yet), however, for distance in a Mustang:

From NJ to FL and back to NJ
From NJ to TX and back to NJ (multiple times)

The TX trips are always awesome. I've made it to the TX border in 24hrs twice and from the TX border to Bandera (destination), another 7 hours in for a total of 31 hours of driving. Mind you, I was not "racing" to get anywhere, I merely followed the flow of traffic the entire route AND I only stopped for refueling, checking vehicle fluids, quick grab of eat/drink, lavatory use and back on the road again. Fun drive for sure.

:)

I haven't had any long distance drives in my SSP. But I my first Mustang, a 1983 GL, I drove it from St.Cloud, MN through Denver to Las Vegas, Los Angles, Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco, Salt Lake City back to St.Cloud, MN. The whole trip, I unknowingly drove it with the timing belt one notch off. I couldn't get any faster than 35 mph and third gear over the continental divide.
