1993 Georgia SSP on CL
This is not my listing....presently on Craigslist
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/2035655108.html 1993 Mustang LX Coupe SSP - $6450 (Woodstock) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2010-10-31, 8:17PM EDT Reply to: sale-rzp3k-2035655108@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1993 Mustang LX Coupe SSP #119 Georgia State Patrol, DSO POLICE buck tags present on core support 112k miles, 5.0 Liter V8, Automatic, Power Windows, Locks, AM/FM Radio (also wired for Police radio but not installed) Black Cloth Interior, in very good shape. Exterior is Navy. Clayton County Georgia Police painted the vehicle navy blue to use in undercover operations. The Georgia State Patrol graphics are static cling and are not permanent on the vehicle. The blue lights have been reinstalled but are not hooked to a switch (per Georgia law). Both sets are only bolted into their original housing are also very easily removed (both sets still work). Vehicle runs well with no mechanical issues, A/C works. There are many historical and vehicle specific Police documents with the car, including the Severe Service manual, many Clayton County Police documents, GSP inspection sheet from 1993, and the GSP Emergency Light Certification sticker, also the original "Property of Clayton County" sticker is still on the vehicle. It's a nice car, especially for prior Police use, no holes in the dash or roof because of the undercover use. Feel free to ask any questions. I would be more than happy to show the vehicle any time. Ummm....that's not a Georgia Highway Patrol car.

Did GSP even buy Mustangs in 1993?

http://www.dps.georgia.gov/00/articl...627488,00.html Since he found pay stubs in the vehicle from Clayton County, I'd bet it was a Clayton County PD car. A call to the PD would probably help clear it up. http://www.claytoncountyga.gov/depar...ic-safety.aspx BTW....officers in GA are not allowed to run traffic out of unmarked cars. http://law.justia.com/georgia/codes/...0/40-8-91.html |
Nice detective work! :2thumbs:

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Getting to the bottom of things and learning something in the process.

Seriously, someone over there might want to help him out with it a little. It's only been two months since he first posted it up. |

I inquired several days in the .org thread that I started if he had any GSP documentation that included his VIN as confirmation. Haven't noticed a reply.

That would be my guess as well Mike.

Apparently it doesn't matter what anyone says, the car is on ebay listed as a GSP\Clayton county car. If it sells I hope the new owner isn't too upset when it doesn't turn out to be legit. :No no:

Well, I'll give Mike P. credit for asking the guy TWICE, in two separate threads.
Here's the link to the extremely rare, "undercover", only marked, white, slick-top, GSP ever in-service, unit #119. :No no: Nice plate, too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...item3cb2aa4f3f http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...P/IMG_2393.jpg |

I think given he started another thread instead of keeping the original one going pretty much gives us the answer. Figured, though, I better get the same question repeated in his new thread. Maybe it will get answered one day. |
You would think someone over there (other than Mike) would have the same questions.

Bottom line is that the car is being advertised as something that it isn't over there and on eBay, and Mike P. is the only one attempting to point it out. Again, kudos to Mike. |

I think for those of us in the the hobby...we need to look out for each other and not assume that everyone has picked up on the situation that is going on. The beauty of this relatively small group of SSP enthusiasts is that we do try and look out for each other. If we don't, who will? The comment by the Seller after his last eBay ad (I've posted it above) has such a level irony in it that is really just too much :puke: . It just goes to show that he is not part of the "we" when it comes to looking out for each other in the hobby. If he can't answer basic questions about his car we shouldn't further his effort to sell it. If these posts keep someone from making a (possible) mistake than it has been worth it. We will have then looked out for each other and maybe they can focus on buying an SSP from one of the productive members of the SSP enthusiast family. |
Very nicely done.
