What year is it Joel ?
About a 90 or 91 ? |
S810 is going to be really hard to get. Few of us have been lucky to acquire key pads. You can start off with an S825, looks the same, just has different key pad. Much easier to get too.

Welcome to the forum! Please post pictures when you can.

How many S810 radio heads do you have Sam ?
How many do you need ? |
Yes its a 1992.
I just took of the front clip and interior, rear bumper and lights. Im gearing up for a new paint job. It appears that at one point it was painted burgundy and cheap black paint on top of the burgundy. Im stripping it back to first original layer. ill take some photos and post them. |
Are the holes still in the lower front bumper, on the right side ?
|
unfortunately, the car had previously been in a crashed and the front bumper had been replaced.
When i purchased the car a month ago the front was damaged again due to a crash from owner who had it all altered with a stroker and supercharger and somehow he lost control and crashed it thus damaging the front clip area. He was going to part it out and scrap it for metal. I originally went to to purchase parts to fix my other coupe and ask about the car and was told that it was an Ex CHP and he was going to cut it up and go to the scrap metal. I offered to buy it; as is and Paid $400.00 dollars and towed it home. Now i will be replacing the radiator support. the buck tags are all there and door tags. The original holes to the door post and original plastics are also drilled fro the spot lights, the rear quarter panel also has the holes covered up with bondo. The first aid kit holes are present along with the snare clips. the original speedometer cluster and dash are present. its definitely a project but nothing impossible the special task to restore and saving it from making it to the metal yard. |
Sam, if i can acquire a S825 do u guys have any extra keypads?
|
Nice find. Glad you are saving it from the crusher.
I am just getting into these cars. If I come across a car that I suspect is an SSP, will I be able to see these "buck tags" on the core support without removing the front bumper or headlight etc.? I am specifically interested in the 1987-1993 cars. Thanks. |
here is a link that shows photos and explains all about he buck tags on all special mustangs.

Also, use a good flashlight when looking for the buck tags. It helps to read them better.
Good save on the CHP Mustang ! You can use an S820, S830 radio head. It looks exactly like an S810. I found 2 complete units with wire harness on eBay for $60.00 + shipping. The display window IS different on the S810 than the others, but not that noticable unless you are wanting EXACT. The problem is that you will need the KEY PAD that was made specificaly for the CHP for those radios. Those are hard to come by. Sam is right, there may be some come available soon. But they are holding on to them for a while. They are still having issues with the new radio system, so they are keeping everything, using some for parts even. The S810's are still in use in the field and EVOC etc. Motors have them still. The key pad will be hard to get. |
Does anybody outhere have any type of sources that may be able to aquire information to unit #9101. Or maybe a lead to where I could find more info of my Unit. I would really appreciate any leads you might have.
Email: mustangnsaleens@yahoo.com 951-3770279 Thanks |
You are going to have to sit back and wait.
We have someone that can get this info for us, but at the moment everything is on hold. Department internal issue. It will come though. In time. Some info on some vehicles is not available. LONG story on how and why. Be patient. Going through paper work handed to me from the previous owner on my car, I have been able to make contact with all previous owners except the first ones that purchased my car from CHP Torrance Motor Transport. It is neat to find out the history from all owners. ALL of them have told me that they wish they had never sold this car. I am glad that they did ! They think it is pretty neat that it has landed back in the hands of a retired CHP officer and turned back into a patrol car again. I'm glad it's sitting in MY shop !! lol |
Great I'm excited to get in the restoration of this unit and will try to make t as close to original as possible. Getting the parts to finish the restore will be hard, but ill continue and wait. I do appreciated guys. Thanks for helping out a fellow CHP, mustang enthisast.
I saw the flyer for the December carshow in Westminster, ca. Ill be there, hopefully many of you will make it. |
I will be there with my '93 CHP work in progress

Guys, this is very cool stuff. now i know what to look for. the brackets appear to be very easy to fabricate in case i cannot find them on ebay soon.
thanks a lot for posting the picture it really helps me. maybe my kit was for a motorcycle? maybe ill find out. ill be posting photos of my car tomorrow, finally get some free time. dumb question: i tried to post the photos full size like you guys did, but i can only do an attachment how do you post them in size large? |

I can send detailed pictures and dimensions of the lay down bracket if you want to make your own. :) Have a look at this for picture posting. This is how I post mine. http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?t=72876 |
I only have a green one like Sam posted. I've seen the others he posted used as well. I will post a copy of the contents on the inside of the lid. The only one I've seen before was CHP specific. That is the first time I've seen the one made by the state.

I have a small green first aid kit also. It looks the same as the larger green one, but smaller.
It was not used in cars or motorcycles. I think it was a generic first aid kit used in offices or auto tech offices. But they were not in the cars. The brackets are easy to reproduce. Then you can line your trunk holes up and drill your bracket to match. |
