Any South Carolina Highway Patrol Mustangs out there?

Does anyone else on here have a SCHP? Any pics?

Nodrama has one....a '93 that was hit and retired with low mileage (around 40K). It's still mostly marked, also. Neat car, and it'll be super-nice after he restores it.

I was curious to see what they look like...This from the state site

Thanks for the replies. I'd love to find another one to fully restore.

Nice pic Andaroony. That's another good shot of the paint difference on the front/rear bumpers, also.

Jeremy,

They are still out there...but SC cars are few and far between. I also forgot...Gregg H. has one that he's working on, which will also be really nice.

Andy, what was the exact site? I went to the SCHP site and was unable to come up with the photo. Thanks.

I couldn't find it, either, but the link above is what Andy posted. If you change the number of the jpg, you can see the different vehicles.

I've noticed there are a lot of FHP and CHP cars out there, but not too many SCHP. Kinda makes me wish I had gone a different route with mine.

Trying to nail down what equipment was used is a real challenge. Mike has been a big help. If I live long enough and don't go broke this '89 of mine should turn out well I hope. The car had set up for several years so It's been fun getting all the mechanicals back in order. Little by little it will get there.

As has been stated earlier - there aren't many around. That's what did it for me - the fact that it will be an almost unique item when finished. :D

Thanks Andy. Some neet pictures out there. Those were some bold individuals riding those cycles.

Jeremy, I'll try to get some shots of the car soon and try to post them. I say try as I am technically challenged when it comes to computers. While giving credit for help on the equipment I neglected to thank Jim Y. He sent me a perfect mount for the K-10 radar unit.

You will find many folks here with various areas of expertise on the SSPs. Ask away and there will be someone who has the answer/s or can find out. Chasing down the mysteries is half the fun.:)

I look forward to your pics. There is just something about the Mustang patrol cars that catches my interest. I love em.

Found this pic of a 93 SCHP. Notice the black bumpers instead of the white on the 88.

I decided to revive this thread from almost 6 years ago. I found it while looking at the Who's Online page (those spambots that are listed as guest find the best old threads). I had to fix the links because the SCHP changed domain names, but I thought the picture that Andy posted on page 1 was awesome!

I like that phone as well....nice! Of course, seeing Gregg's SCHP SSP in person is really a special experience...such a nice SSP, that words can't describe it.

What is that color called?

adambeal59 03-14-2013 09:36 PM

im not sure but its the paint code on the buck tag ill ask the guy who painted it tomorrow

adambeal59 03-14-2013 09:40 PM

w-2813 is the paint code

FoxChassis 03-14-2013 10:24 PM

Adam, good to see you over here. :) I'm the one that contacted you @ stangnet about your car.

The SC units that were painted the highway patrol colors are stamped "PAINT GREY W-2813" (1989) or "PAINT SPECIAL GREY W-2813" (1990) on their buck tags. I couldn't find W2813 paint code but I did find a Ford fleet color "Grey" in 1988 with the code WT2813. W2813 was the 1st 'special' paint color on the door tags.

The second paint code on the door tags seems to have been different every year.

SC Hwy Patrol 2nd 'special' paint color:

1989 = M6062 (Light Grey/Smoke)
1990 = M6330 (Light Titanium)
1991 = M6401 (Titanium Frost)

adambeal59 03-14-2013 10:39 PM

The buck tag does say special gray i see it now
