Don't want to do this, but at this time it needs to go. Another will come my way eventually. So this thing is almost 100% stock! Has off road hpipe flowmasters, egr delete, and smog delete that's it! Front seats were swapped out at some point in its life. Needs front seats, headliner and some rust repaired. Runs and drives with cold ac, heat should work it's hooked up. Has LEDs in cluster, dome, and license plate. Needs paint and rust repair. New tfi module won't hurt, but this one is still good.

Fenders were rolled better condition arm rests installed, has new weatherstripping for both doors installed.

This is CHP unit 5311!!

Whoa. It's like a weird mind game. What are the chances?

EXNODRAMANOTCH 08-24-2016 07:58 PM

That's pretty coincidental. A couple of years ago I owned 2 consecutive VIN Minnesota State Patrol SSPs (the last 2 of the 4 midnight shadow blue metallic, and they were the last 2 of the 20 consecutive VIN SSPs that the state bought in 7 different colors). I found (on this site) & bought one from Mike in MI & 6 months later, I found the other one on CL in Stillwater, MN while searching for pony wheels for another of my fox chassis Mustangs. Now what are the odds of that happening?

28HopUp 08-25-2016 10:50 AM

Consecutive SSP Mustangs (whether it be by VIN or agency unit number) are pretty cool. I know of one other collector/restorer who had consecutive VIN SSP Mustangs. It is interesting in this case where the two units are listed for sale at the same time.

5311 is sold and on its' way to VA. Guy drove all the way to TX to grab it yesterday.

28HopUp 08-25-2016 05:17 PM

Virginia huh? Maybe Jack decided he wanted to add another CHP to his stable???

ImEvil1 08-25-2016 05:46 PM

Flake-like buyer in TX didn't come through, and the seller gets a call from a guy who says he's dropping everything and starting the drive. Guy actually shows up the next day and voila.

Holy Heck! I never checked the VIN Project for #5310. That's a confirmed SMPV, gentlemen!

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info111906.htm

Somebody needs to pick this one up and save it.

offcrjim 08-27-2016 04:10 PM

I am negotiations with him but it appears he can't find the pink slip, so since he did not change it only his name it's a lil complicated;( not giving up tho

So, he's got it on an open title? If so, he may have to have the previous owner apply for a replacement. Ugggghhh...can get complicated is right. People are the worst...;)

BUT DON'T GIVE UP! Not on this one.

O-K, I came to this late. Can somebody tell me what a SMPV is. Is that a special unit of the CHP?
Also, can Offcrjim give an update of the sale?

28HopUp 09-13-2016 12:56 PM

Here's a link that explains them with photos...

Mike -
The consecutive vin number car to yours is still sitting as a roller in unincorporated Hayward, CA.

Still? Hope it survives somehow. Man, title issues sure seem to follow many of these cars. :No no:

Would this roller happen to be dark blue with some cheesy aftermarket 5 spokes?

Yes. I've been trying to get it for years. I even stopped by on duty once....

Yeah that car has been sitting on the corner of that lot for ever now.

Have re-connected with the seller and hoping to take possession this weekend.
Question for everyone; the guy has no pink but has a bill of sale from the previous owner. Would a title bond through a bonding agency and new paperwork through DMV be enough to transfer the vehicle into my name?

28HopUp 06-06-2017 05:48 PM

Good luck! I hope others with more knowledge on this subject will chime in. It would be nice to see another SMPV end up in good hands. That would make three confirmed SMPV cars found so far.

Great buy.

Hope you have fun with it.

BTW:
You know, there should be a way, to know if the older posts for cars for sale are still "for sale" when running down the list of cars for sale. The post for this car started in August of 2016. I figured it was long gone so I never bothered to read the thread.
Could the seller be requested to make a simple "SOLD" message at the tail of the thread they started so that it could be moved to the top of the thread by Admin? Therein saving reading time and wearing out my eyeballs.
Just my opinion.

NoDrama43 06-14-2017 10:10 AM

glad you picked it up.

That could be done, provided the seller takes the time to post up that the car is sold. At which point a Moderator/Admin could edit the first post to indicate that it is sold (without deleting the content of the first post).
