Before and After.....

Before and After.......I look at the before from time to time to justify
(in my mind) that it is a good thing to have saved this car.

Those kind of shots are always great to look at and they go over big time with folks at shows. Be sure to throw them all in an album and take 'em there to display (and for bragging rights, of course). :)

You Bet Michael......Your car looks like it was in service the day before you got it!!
When i return to Idaho this spring and have the decals on.... I will take identical
pictures with car placement as it looked when it first came home! also using your
DOOR picture for proper decal placement! Thanks!

Those look awesome! We just need more before and after like these. I can only offer what I have as before and after and it is not a when I found it and not in service look... One day though. I have a really rough looking before shot of my 87 DPS SSP and it will look totally different when it's completely restored.

Actually, after it's second retirement (patrol for two years and Academy use for almost eight), my car sat for about two more years in CHP custody and then for another two in private hands before I got ahold of it! The most important reason the paint and body came out as well as it did was in no small part due to the factory finish staying (mostly) intact and the car never having been repainted save for the rattle can paintouts on the door and deck lid. A truly lucky find on my part!

My hat is off to those who have to deal with crappy repaints because it adds a lot more work to the whole project, esp. dealing with the overspray.

Document as much of the "before" as possible Matt as you'll want it once your project is completed. I wish I had done more on my car.

Andy what are thoose holes drilled in your hood in the before pic?

Andy 02-14-2007 04:14 PM

Here are a few more as for the crappy paint and over spray (on my car) it came up
with duct tape applied and than pulled up fast door jams and under the hood that
were not sanded ....This really came off fast! Matt when your car is done you will
be looking at the before pictures kinda like I am....i am saying it had that air cleaner
on it???? what a mess!

Chris.....The holes are rivets for the Big (did i say big) i meant to say the Really BIG
air scoop it had when i brought it home.I would not drive the car with something that
looked like a LARGE Microwave oven on the hood so the first thing i did was drill
out the rivets and cover the HOLE with magnetic sign material and that is how i
drove it till i found another hood!

NoDrama43 02-14-2007 10:45 PM

and after over 1000 hours (documented) time on the restoration....
