New to me 82 CHP

I was born in May of 1959. That fact will make it easier for me to remember the unit number of my final 1982 SSP acquisition. Short story is I have been liquidating SSP cars because I was never going to finish 14 of them. I delivered the 1983 Florida car to it's new owner yesterday and then picked up CHP 0559. Went for a Sunday morning drive today and it is a fabulous running car.

Eventually 1982 CHP 0594 will be for sale.

Congrats!! Nice to see that car out and about.

Yep....that car has been all over the country the past ten years. I drove it 60 mph for about 15 minutes today to stretch her legs good. I am amazed how well it drives and rides. Still has 119k miles and a ton of original parts. I am driving it over to my painters tomorrow so he can figure out how he wants to strip the green off.

Congrats! It will be a great day when all the '82's getting finished can sit next to one another on a show field.

Glad to see it.

Congrats Jim. That's a nice low miles example, I recall they were running them out at 70 or 75k back then.

Hey, I'm a May baby too...let me know if you find 0556! :)

Jim, congrats on the new 82 CHP. I think you did well by picking this up after selling the 83 FHP. (I hope the new owner of that car dives in to fix those minor issues and makes it a closer-to-correct restoration; something you had planned to address yourself). In terms of this new-to-you 82, it sounds like it will not take too much for you to get it to the stage where you can show it. It's nice that you already have all of the CHP equipment squirreled away, too!

 I'm still in shock that you got rid of the 83....

it needed way more work than I was willing to put into it. Hopefully the new owner will have more of a desire to work on it than I did. Besides.....I have 10 other cars to spend my time with for now. Several more of them are going to be on the block this year.

0559 Is now in Georgia.

Hey folks 0559 is now here in Ga. From what I’ve gathered this old gal has changed hands several times....not sure why it has not gotten put back to its former glory but good Lord willing we should have it done in a few months.

Awesome! Welcome to the site. :)

Welcome to the board, and glad to hear.

mac88chp 07-27-2018 10:37 AM

Welcome. You have a great car there to start a project so go man, go.

NoDrama43 07-28-2018 07:37 PM

I too hope it finally gets back to black and white. Way to many projects around my place to give the car the love it deserves.

I’ve got a good map out on the paint breaks from a org paint 82...I want to make sure that’s as correct as possible.

Doesnt the paint break go directly underneath the two mouldings on the rear quarterpanels? Both of those pieces (one was Nos) were with the car when I sold it.
