It's good to hear from you, Andy! We're good here. I'm building an SSP in my head. I just need money and time to make it happen! :D

All good brother!

Hola Andy! ;)

So is this SSP FB site affiliated with THIS website?
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1379...ussion/preview

If so, kind of really disappointed it has now been turned into a “Private” page. What’s so secret about SSP’s anymore?

I get this whole Social Media thing, but honestly when Auto Enthusiasts do this, it really ruins it for those who don’t want to be a part of the whole social media scene, especially FB and IG and all it’s really doing is creating segregation.

I visited that page DAILY and enjoyed reading the comments left and seeing the many SSP projects, historical images, complete restorations, equipment restos, vehicle rescues, etc etc etc.

Folks don’t want to support and visit visit these forums forums (where it ALL started waaaaaaay before FB crap) and now cap off the FB page as “private”? C’mon already…

I don’t partake in the FB BS for this very reason - acting like a bunch of high schools kids with the “clicks”.

I’ve been a member here for years, even had an 86 FHP for a short stint, which Jim bought from me, have provided tech, as well as input and “FYI’s” when stuff came up for sale that others could use. It’s extremely disappointing to see the above page go private. All that does is make folks like me who have an interest but don’t want to be handcuffed to FB, move along.

So whoever is in charge of that site, pass along the info not that it makes a damn bit of difference, but maybe the point will get across - it’s ruining the hobby.

Off soap box.

Oh and yes, I’m doing well Andy. :)

Phil, the link didn't work for me but I suspect that it is not the FB page that Mike created for the .NET forum. The SSP Foxbody Mustang page is managed by another person and I remember him posting recently about whether or not to make the page private due to anticipated changes on FB that would prevent him from keeping non-members from posting.

Cobra Jet 06-13-2021 11:06 PM

Hi Bill,

Here’s the FB link, don’t know why the first didn't work:
https://m.facebook.com/groups/1379997308887596/

If that link doesn’t work the FB Group is the SSP Foxbody Mustangs .

Where is the FB site that Mike started? Every time I Google SSP Mustang, I’m not hitting it.

All I’m saying is, bring the posts back here then. If people want to create little clicks on Social Media sites by turning hobbyist pages to private more power to them. All I see it doing is closing a door and putting bad vibes into the hobby.

Making it private because they don’t want nonFB users posting? Isn’t the whole point of the hobby to SHARE the knowledge and being able to connect to others who also enjoy the same thing????

Sorry to vent fellas… but it’s sad times when people close off things for their own agendas. Besides, a lot of the info came and still comes from this site in that noted FB Group…. I’ve seen many links and many photos posted within their Group that come directly from here so why don’t we close the site off from them (being TOTALLY sarcastic), but you see what I’m saying???

Can’t have a one way street and that’s exactly what the FB Group Site Owner is doing by shutting out everyone by making it private.

Phil,

I reserved the "SSP Mustangs" name years ago on FB. Our group is

https://www.facebook.com/groups/SSPMustangs

It is private, also. Not to keep people like you out; but because doing so keeps the discussions civil and minimizes the back and forth BS, with people posting fake traffic stops on each other, burnouts, etc etc etc. I'm sure you've seen that in the group above. It is pretty rare on the .NET group.

We have 1.1K members there, as opposed to the other group with 4K. They have been around alot longer on that platform, so I kinda expected it.

Public groups mean my 6 Facebook friends see how cool my hobbies are. No thanks.
