Well guys I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!
This is very likely the last surviving 83 GSP out of the original 10. First I wanna give a BIG THANKS to Bill (28hopup) and Mick (foxchassis) for help; advice and encouragement in tracking down this rare bird. I will pics of car soon... She's no beauty queen right now but she's straight and solid and she will be soon:-) Teaser pic |

Actually I WAS dealing with a third party seller... The actual owner found my add and contacted me personally today. The third party was VERY FLAKEY... But it all worked out... Still gave WAY more than I should have for a roller but this was probably my only shot and the last surviving car from the looks of the VIN checks :-( |
HUGE CONGRATS on finally getting this car home, Bobby! I am VERY happy for you. :D
|
WOW!!!! This is such a cool piece of history and such a cool story, rough or not, can't wait to see pictures of this car.

I'm like a kid at Christmas right now :-) Quote:
It looks bad but is in a lot better shape than the "third party" led me to believe. It actually really solid and straight. No rust out, minimal surface rust in typical places ( bottom of drivers door, lip of rain channel in trunk.) Nothing that needs to be replaced... All original panel except hood. Will need to replace Trunk lid ( some previous owner drill holes for wing and trimmed inner brace to clear huge batterie box) & rear cover has sun deterioration damage, and hood has cowl on it. Front cover is in pretty good shape (still has holes from blue lights) still factory silver. Looks like they reprint all blue matching silver. Somewhere along the line interior was dyed red :-( ... It's all there and original except carpet (replaced with actual red carpet) and is missing dash pad. |

Awesome Bobby! Glad you found this one and are taking care of it now. :D

Now I gotta get the 92 done so I can get started!!! Lol |

And thanks again for your help !!! |
Does the INT TRIM code on the door tag read "BB" or "DB"? It looks like DB. I see BB in the code books but not DB.

Maybe I should be looking at the '83 books and not the '84 books. LOL DB is in the '83 books.

Quote:
In "Fox-Body Recognition Guide" DB says L/B Bucket Leather/Vinyl. But the seats are cloth/vinyl I believe. They appear to be original just dyed red... |
I'll look closer when I get home. I do remember they are a pattern I don't recall seeing...

BTW, this is a "GL" trim level car so the rocker panel mouldings were Black from the factory.

They may have never been installed at the factory. Rocker mouldings were standard on all except the L trim level so if they were "deleted" per the special order I would think there would have been comments for such on the build sheet. I doubt there is a build sheet in that car now, if there ever was one, but you never know.
The moulding on each side was held on with clips and the clips were riveted to the rocker panel, so you should see small holes along the center horizontal plane of the rocker panel, unless either the car had them deleted at the factory or a prior owner took them off and filled the holes. |

As it looked when I first seen it...
|
Rocker mouldings were black on the GL trim level and bright on the GLX trim level. I say this car is a GL because "D" code seats were only available in the GL. Cloth & vinyl low-back buckets in the GLX and GT were "F" code.
I believe they were bright on the L trim level. GT had black rocker panels but it was paint instead of moulding. |

Wow, not a bad looking car at all!

Checked seat back for build sheet , no luck... Found this though. Anybody know what this is?
|
I think that is the delivery sticker (from Ford Parts Dist. Center to Benny Jackson Ford) affixed to the driver side upper seat frame. 61019 is the basic part number for the seat frame.
