Spotlight Question

Is there any difference between spotlights from 86 - 93 ( besides chrome and black )? I'm looking for 2 chrome spotlights for my 86 UHP car, one with a clear lens and one with a red.
Thanks
Gary

There were differences in head sizes as some agencies used 5". CHP spots were specific to CHP. The K shaft 6" spotlight will fit 79-93 Mustangs, among others.

Is there a specific light set up for a Mustang or will a light from a CV work? Are they universal?

Gary,

Any of the older S-6 (6 inch) or H-1 (5 inch) will work, depending on what your car had (6 inch, I believe). The shaft lengths on the CV and Caprice lights are longer than what the Mustangs took (as Bernie pointed out), but they can be switched out. Internally, if you are using the red bulb it's probably a dual filament bulb (4416, like what CHP used). There is a piece you can buy and wire it to make it work right (I'll get the name and a part number for you later, if you need it) :)

Gary,

I am moving the last couple of loads of parts from the warehouse to the home shop today. I have the correct dual filament connector you need for the red lense. I will did it out tonight and post a pic for you.

Jim,

I'll save you the trouble, but you can post some pics of the barn post-move if you want. :)

Gary,

Here is the back of the bulb for my '82 car. It's actually not a 4416 and it's marked 4400. Definitely a dual filament bulb, and the adapter piece is only marked with a "H" for manufacturer and "low beam", "high beam", and "ground" at the terminals.
