Whats the difference??? I've seen these on Ebay:confused:

Bernie,

There are two different repeaters...the PAC R/T and the PAC P/L. The R/T utilizes a priority scheme, just like the "extenders" used by the CHP, while the P/Ls do not. You can find them in both VHF and UHF freqs.

Then the Pac/Pl would not be correct for the FHP?

From what I've been told (by the retired guys), the R/Ts are the right ones. 99% of the cars ran the repeaters, but I've seen cars without them (unmarked ones).

We used the Pac units in Nevada and they were are pain in the metro area. You would have multiple units arrive and activate their units. Pretty soon someone would key up thier portable and several cars would transmit together. It drove the dispatchers crazy. These units were made using a standard HT-220 radio chassis with a PL board and components to accomplish the task. Very Low tech design that worked well. CHP had a better design by far.
