1989 chp unit 5200

hi I saw this on ebay, unit 5200 chp for sale, does anyone know the history of this vehicle http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang...US_Cars_Trucks

Wow really clean car.

I would definitely try to verify if he has any documentation to support the story of it being wrecked in service and then rebuilt. Keep in mind, the car has a salvaged title so no matter it's history, it will always be a salvage title car.

To us that enjoy ssp's, the salvage title is trumped by the possible history of the car. But down the road if you decide to sell it, the salvage title will be a huge bartering point for a buyer.

The seller's website has add'l photos, which includes a 1985 (wrong year) Ford Special Equipment Parts List for the CHP order, and a build sheet.

The DSO on the build sheet is hard to read, so it may or may not be the correct one for this car.

Build sheet is not for that car. It is for a 1986 CHP.

Engine code shown on the build sheet is M, meaning 1984-86. Muffler part number on build sheet starts with 6. DSO on build sheet looks to be 72-0081, which is a known 1986 CHP special order number. Check digit shown on the build sheet is 5 so it could be any of these 14 VINs:

1FABP26M5GF246923
1FABP26M5GF246937

If the Carfax is correct, there's definitely more to this story. THI hold, involved in something other along with the crash, etc. etc. It seems like far too long for them to hold onto it otherwise.
