1989 CHP #E435200 on ebay
Despite the seller's claim about this being a low mileage car...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Mustang...p2054897.l4275 ...it is a confirmed CHP car in our VIN Project - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info211360.htm It is a nice lookin' car, but those claims are ridiculous! |
This is the sellers response to my question about the mileage.
When new this car was never put into service. Radios, spot lights and emergency lights were never installed. Before outfitting this car the drivers door was damaged, hence it must have been put out to pasture (storage) till the next years cars came in. It was then sold as salvage by California. There is the metal door tag (cut out) in an envelope with the cars papers (with the original numbers). A new door was installed as the car is straight as can be, hopefully that is noticeable from the pictures. Yes, this is a very nice car, with some interesting history and very rare low mileage for an SSP. There are other low mileage SSP's as noted in the SSP history notes attached in the Ebay adv for this car. Hope this is helpful. Thank you, Richard Never put into service because of a door. Now I've heard it all... |

I saved this one when it was on ebay in Yuma, AZ in Sept 2014.

3 holes for the shotgun rack on the instrument cluster, holes on the center console for regency scanner, holes in the front bumper cover for the siren and looks like the spotlight holes are plugged inside pillars. It looks like a nice car, but how does the seller make claims that there was never any equipment installed. I'm sure I could find all kinds of holes from the equipment in the trunk. Hey, but it has a rare ssp spoiler on the trunk.
It is a nice car from the pics, but why make these claims? |
Fortunately the reserve is not met. Hopefully potential buyers do their due diligence and check the car over prior to bidding. Lots of red flags on this one.

With so many question marks about this car, does anyone know the true mileage? Can a CarFax be run on this car?
More importantly...why the salvage title? |
AutoCheck could be run, but like CARFAX, there is a cost involved. The seller's BS could be the story he was told when he bought it. Who knows? But this car points to the benefit of inspecting a used car before you buy it from an unknown seller.
