1985 CHP Mustang - 8428 - University Place, WA
Given the number of cars I have and the time available (or lack thereof), I have decided to thin out my fleet and focus on the cars that I actually want to keep and enjoy. Too many projects….too little time.
I acquired a 1985 CHP Mustang #8428 a few years ago as part of a part trade transaction. I always wanted to restore a 4-eyed car, and being I have a soft spot for CHP cars, felt like a good fit. You can review most of the details here: http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=3381 In 2011, the car had some quirks to take care of - and - have not done much with the car. Drove it home around 200 miles one-way (ran like a champ) and then parked it - where it has languished outside on my driveway since. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly: Good:
The Bad:
The Ugly:
The car simply hauls when you light it up. And the exhaust sound on the car is absolutely awesome. However, I am a stock purist, and the stroker motor, while it looks stock from a distance - it's just not my thing. I also have some parts for the car that came with it:
It's hard to put a value on things - and - I also know I won't get back what I have into the car. Keeping that in mind, I would like to get $6500.00 for the car, all the parts, and the CHP gear I have collected to date for it. At a high level, the new owner would basically need to have a new core support put in, the car repainted, put a carpet kit in, install the gear and go! Here are pics of the car just after I bought it: http://s1090.photobucket.com/user/dj...?sort=2&page=1 And here are recent pics I took of the car in its current condition: http://s1090.photobucket.com/user/dj...?sort=2&page=1 I will update the thread with the list of CHP gear I have acquired once I can assemble it all. Amongst what I know I have:

GLWS! That will turn out to be a good one for someone. Is the 4 door parked next door an old Pierce County car?
|
Here is the page for this car in our VIN Project -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info234932.htm It is a nicely documented CHP Mustang. GLWS! |
The 4 door caprice is from WSP. It's a 1990 and was an unmarked car. Has around 96K miles on it, runs very well - and is the last box bodied Caprice the WSP sold/had in inventory. Car was hidden out at Bergstrom air field and used as a pool car for the crew up until I purchased it in 2009. They actually "lost" the car from fleet records for a few years until the captain stepped in and acknowledged that they had it and were keeping it. It will be up for sale shortly.
Am also looking at selling my 88 PCSD SSP project as well - stay tuned for more info. :) If I can thin the fleet, it will allow me to focus on the 87 WSP car that was driven by Marlin and Old Joe. |
Bill - thank you for the link to the VIN project. Much appreciated. :)

Yes...that's the one! Was the last known PCSD SSP that had not been found (based on active Car Fax reports a few years back). Is #1304 we believe. It's rough, needs a lot, but runs and drives. Just do not have time for it all. :)
