Goodyear Gatorbacks

I have one "like new" set of four Gatorbacks on a perfect set of professionally refinished black ten hole wheels. The center caps look NOS. The tires were balanced without wheel wieghts on the front of the wheel. Clip wieghts on the backside lip and stick on wieghts towards the frontside. If you have a show car this is the set you need. Although the tires are not dry rotted or cracked I wouldn't recommend driving on them much ! Why wear them out ? Where & when do you find another set ? $1,650 plus shipping

I also have another set of four that are not mounted, two tires are NOS with stickers still on them and two tires look like new take offs $1,250 plus shipping.

size is 225/60VR/15

With the popularity of these tires over the years its surprising Goodyear never produced a classic version for sale

Are these tires really bringing these kind of prices these days???

NoDrama43 02-09-2010 09:07 PM

no. at least not my money anyway. I bought 8 last fall and paid about 60.00 each and 4 of them were new with stickers on them. The other four were like new.

wow - that sounds cheap - These tires complimented so many cars over the years from Iroc's to Nationals to Corvettes to Mustangs

I bought a set 2 years ago at $115/each.

Check with Jim at PPI. I was told he got $2500 ??? for the last NOS set he had. I sold one NOS set 8 years ago for $1,500 no questions asked - to a Mustang collector in California. Does anyone here know of other sources with NOS sets ? I mean NOS sets that are not cracked or dry rotted ? Also, don't forget not only were these used on SSP's but every 5.0 LX & GT from 1985 thru 1990.

Jeff I would put them on ebay. See what they bring. FMR sold a set on wheels for a little less than 1k last year (I think). In 2004 a set of NOS Saleen take-offs with perfect unused 10 holes went for 1800.00. I guess it just depends on how bad the person wants them and how much money they want to spend. Didn't you put some of these on Ebay recently? I remember seeing a set with another picture showing a rack of tires and the seller claiming to have more. Did that set sell?

I would bet Coker will eventually repro the tires which would be great. Before that happens there will need to be a demand for them and that just isn't the case right now. Bill Gates would probably pay 4k for a set if he needed them. PPI was asking 2500.00 for a set of these tires? wow

Anyway good luck with the sale.

My tire sources tell me Coker WILL reproduce these tires but has not given any firm dates yet, they are still gauging the demand.
