1986 mustang FHP 5.0 5 speed coupe – lightly restored

Selling this ’86 FHP that I saved from an apartment complex about 2 years ago and sold to Dan to restore. The car is not perfect, but stands tall and shows well. Dan did the body work, but had a buddy paint it – it is single stage as Dan intended to go back factory and do the cream paint as well, but when he decided to trade it to me for another car I advised him to leave it all black and let the next person paint the cream if they chose.

The Paint is nice, but not perfect. There were about 5 antenna holes on the roof that had to be filled, and the roof had some waves from the lightbar holding it, so it has some filler and just a small amount of lifting under some of that paint. The engine bay has been redone also. It has all new weatherstripping, everything has been repainted. As best as we can tell, due to holes in the factory bumper support, this was an original pushbar car.

The interior is nice, but it will need a dash pad (it has a cap) and probably carpet, as this carpet is old and dirty. Has the factory radio (needs speakers), all of the gauges work, lights work, etc. Factory console “delete” plate that still has the holes where some equipment mounted.

The engine has some GT40 upgrades, but this particular intake does not have the EGR so the motor is a little cold natured when you first fire it. Once it’s warmed up, it runs great and pulls hard. Trans shifts smoothly, no grinding, no jumping out of gear, etc. Factory style exhaust with the 4 cat factory mid-pipe, one cat does need to be replaced though as it is “rattling.” Both the AC and Heat work and work well! There are no bends or tweaks in the front frame rails.

The car is from Texas and has absolutely no rust. According to the Carfax it came to texas in ’93 so it didn’t get eaten alive by Florida rust, the pans are perfect, bottoms of the doors, etc. It also still has the “property” sticker from FHP under the trunklid, and the cream paint can be seen in some of the seams. I have the Marti report to go with it also. I have the factory intake to go with it, as well as the correct lightbar.

Clear texas title, this is a clean driver ’86 SSP that doesn’t need anything but just some details if someone wanted to. You won’t find a better ’86 that doesn’t need paint for the price. $7900 or best.

The car is located in Austin, TX with me, I can help with being available to load the car for shipping.

Thanks,
Chris
