SSP Restoration questions

Hi all, haven’t posted in a while but hope everyone is doing ok!

So what is the thought consensus of buying an SSP that can be backed up by a Marti, has Dept tagging, other documentation but is missing it’s BUCs and has some title history?

I mean, I’ve seen many folks on this site pick up SSP’s are in poor condition and turn them around into good road worthy Mustangs again as well as watching some of you take wrecked or salvaged SSP’s and being them back from the dead.

Do missing BUCs and title history have any major impact on the collectibility or future resale values of these Mustangs? For those of you who have restored an SSP to “driver quality” or even “showroom new”, if that vehicle had title history do you find that it’s frowned upon?

I know some Mustang Enthusiasts don’t care about title history and will take a Mustang in poor condition and bring life into it. Then there’s the others that think any type of title history is blasphemy and won’t touch the car...

Thoughts?

By "title history", are you talking salvage title or something else? Many people shy away from salvage cars, so yes it can affect value. But a car that is properly restored will still bring the highest money. So if this one fits your needs for the right price, then go for it!

Hi Bill,

Yes, salvage or even theft/stolen, which depending on Ins Carrier and State DMV, by definition salvage could cover theft/stolen recovery as well..

I mean, not all salvage vehicles are like “total losses” and wrecked beyond fixable. Some could be salvaged for accident damage, but repairable damages that don’t affect structural integrity of the vehicle.

If it’s missing it’s buck tags but is a verified SSP, I don’t believe there’s any loss of value.

To me, availability of the Marti Report To confirm an SSP makes the buck tags less important.
