Woohoo! Just found 1990 NC SSP Mustang!

Hi guys, I'm a long time fan of the Nebraska SSPs and have 2 projects. I just got this NC car home and am pretty excited.

This new SSP is a decent condition Cabernet Red, red interior and mostly all original. 127k miles, Auto.

I'll post some photos, but was here doing some initial research and am taking this moment to say hi.

Also, some questions...

Is there a lot of info on the North Carolina cars? I don't see any dash holes, so maybe it wasn't used in service?

Thanks!

Dan

Welcome to the forum? What clues have you used to try and determine it was an NC SSP? A few marked and unmarked SSPs with the NCSHP have "rolled" through the forum. A couple local NC municipality SSPs too from what I can recall.

I waited to read the tag on the firewall. It says N Carolina, here is the VIN:

I would love to know how it was used initially. Was it a patrol car, or simply used as an administrative car?

It's last assignment was as the Duluth Minnesota Police Reserve public service car. They used it in parades and in their DARE program. They installed lights, siren and PA system and decals; you'll see once I get photos posted.

Interesting background on the car. I've been to Duluth a few times on business. Very long winters there. Have you noticed any labels on the left hand side of the dash (it would be side the vertical part on the left hand side of the dash)?

Can you post a pic of the door tag and both buck tags?

Your VIN is in a group of 44 consecutive P40E VINs (LF163467-LF163510). There have been five NCSHP SSPs in that group identified so far, three before yours and two after. Those five also have a regular production color, not tu-tone NCSHP colors. The three before yours have DSO 22-0120 and the two after have DSO 22-0121.

I've always liked the marked NCSHP's. Here's our '90

I've posted some initial photos in my shop's photobucket page:

I found the tag along the side of the dash that reads "NC Dept of Crime Control and Public Safety", so I would say it's definitely not NC Highway Patrol. It appears to have been more of an admin or investigator's car.

The car was clearly used for some time by the Duluth police reserve, so I'm considering restoring it as used in service there.

It's in pretty nice condition and I'm glad to have found it.

I love your in-service car, Bullitt1609, very nice! I was searching for a Nebraska car to put back as served when this one came along.
