Cool news on my 93 FHP

Got in touch with the public relations officer from troop H about my 93. Turns out the car was originally Broward County (troop L) and then sent to Talahassee as a training car for the FHP academy. I still need to get the Carfax run again and get some info from the accident it was in- hopefully I can get the troopers name and pics that way. Nice to know I can do the research locally rather than all the way across the state. Here is a bit from the email he sent me-

"Matt,

I was able to get some information on your mustang. It was first put into service on 8/2/93 in Broward County. The vehicle was taken out of service and sold at auction in January 2000. While assigned in Broward County, I don’t know who was assigned, however the vehicle was transferred to Leon County to the FHP training Academy where it was assigned to staff members. It was mainly used as a training car. As far as equipment, the light bar would have been a Jet Sonic blue light with the siren box on the roof. The radio would have been a Motorola two-way four channel with a repeater box in the trunk area for the handheld radio. There would have been an assigned speed measuring device assigned as well. Most likely a Kustom Electronics KR-10 Radar. I will try and find some photos for you so you can see the car interior. "

Now the car has two unit numbers. The current key has 435 on it which was a troop H car. Who knows about the Broward county assignment.....

:headscratch:

Matt, glad that you are finding some more information for your car. I find the key number to be interesting as my '89 had the same number "435" on it's key. Just a guess that your '93 was the replacement for my '89 - who knows??? Good luck with your hunt for more info.

Makes sense. They probably transferred it up there to replace yours. It is not like they could get a new one at that point- they would have had to pull from existing inventory.

Great input on your FHP...thanks for sharing.

Just goes to show that the unit numbers stay within the troops, not with the car if transfered.
