I remember when that article came out. I'm no CHP guy but I thought the decals didn't appear to be the Vitachrome ones. Seems to be a nice car. I'm sure someone will chime in that has seen it or personally knows about it.

Nice shots of the interior equipment. I can't restore mine to that level for the price he's asking, but then again I'm not restoring my CHP to flip it.

I think Mike C. has seen the car personally, and I'm sure he'll weigh in.
It needs a CHP micor, though. |
Kevin M. had an 86 which he sold 8 or so years ago. Wonder if this is that car?

Yes, it was originally restored by Kevin M. around the mid to late '90s I believe and has been in Southern California and at shows on this coast regularly for a number of years.
I last saw it at the Fabulous Fords Forever show this past spring and felt that the car could use a bit of cosmetic freshening up. The black paint could stand a good buffing with just the front bumper cover needing a repaint along with much of the exterior trim. One piece of metal window trim (can't remember which) is dented and would need replacement. The interior had no major issues as I recall. The non-original engine might be an issue to a certain type of buyer but I think his pricing is in the ballpark and he's taking offers too. Kevin saw the car at the April show also and may be able to add some more information. http://images43.fotki.com/v1505/phot...1010833-vi.jpg |
I'm happy to report this car ended up in good hands with a police car collector and is staying in California. I caught up with both at a San Jose CHP event I took my car to yesterday:
