What would you do?

What would you do with this SSP?

Here's the history...The buck tags indicate it was for CHP and show that it was painted black & white. You can see the black in the engine bay and can see the white around the door and roof where the paint has chipped. But...below the paint is gray, under the hood and truck lid are still gray. As it sits now, it is Reef Blue.

There are no holes anywhere indicating CHP use. No holes for antennas, spot lights, radios, shot gun rack, lights, ect.

I've talked to CHP motorpool, they have no records left for this car.

I've found no unit numbers where other members have found theirs on their CHP cars.

I thought is that it was destined to be CHP, but they didn't need it. So they shipped it off to some government office, FBI or DEA? That is why the gray paint.

This past week I've started the process of stripping out the performance parts. Once I clean up the stock parts, they will all go back on.

So, back to my question...If this was your car, how would you proceed? What would you do with it? I ask you because of what you all are all about. If I asked this question on another forum, they would probably want to make it a racer.

Toshi,

My vote us that it was either a CHP car that was messed with after service or it was a B&W that was repainted and used as an admin vehicle.

I'd restore it as a marked car.

No matter what it was used for or what color it was repainted, I would return it to how it came from the factory.

Toshi - I'm with Mike on this one...+1.

I look forward to hearing what direction you decide to go. :popcorn1:

I forget - does your car still have the 2nd Buck Tag? If so, what does it say? Your answer(s) will sway my response to your inquiry.

Agree, and also what the door sticker says.

buck tag confirms it. it was originally a black and white car.

question answered.

I would follow what the buck tags says and return it back to its original glory!

Door stickers and buck tag both say Black & White.

I've been jumping back and forth between B&W or solid black or solid white. I like the idea of doing it B&W and putting the CHP markings on. But because it doesn't have any of the other CHP stuff, I was hesitant on going that route, thinking that it then would be like making a 'clone'. It did come from the factory B&W. B&W it shall be. Now I know what direction I'll be taking it.

Thanks guys.

Next I'll be in pursuit of all the decals.

That's a good call IMO. After re-reading my post, I realized that I unintentionally left a vague answer. Since you have the Buck Tags and know how the car was originally delivered to the CHP, then putting it back to in-service condition is the best path forward. If the car was undocumented, then I would have suggested all-black and leave it unmarked. Did you notice if the car had a rollbar ever installed? Maybe it was an EVOC (long-shot, I know). An SMPV perhaps?

I'm getting my CHP decals from Dave at M Squad. I plan to apply mine to magnetic material, since I drive my SSP frequently. Good luck with your project, and keep the pictures coming! :)
