Carfax

Can anyone run a Carfax for me on my 89 Mn. SSP? I had the state patrol run a check on the VIN & there was no info available. They checked Wi. & Mn. I need to find out what state this thing was titled in last & possibly a title number so I can get a title for it. The VIN is 1FABP40E8KF193396. Thanks, Doug

•Hmm, we haven't received any information on this car since February 1994. Before you buy, ask the seller for recent service or repair records.

Thank you very much Mark for the report. This explains why there is no info available about this car. The trooper friend of mine said when there is inactivity for a long period of time with a vehicle the info is purged. This car doesn't look like it's been sitting that long. I can't believe this car hasn't been registered since 1994. The mystery continues. Thanks again, Doug

I may have missed this, but will you be able to apply for a new title?

CHP 3705 12-01-2010 03:39 PM

I have e-mailed the Minnesota DPS and asked for help in finding the last registered owner. This car has to have been registered somewhere in the last 16 years. It does still have the auction (crap) paint job on it which you can pull off with 2" masking tape & uncover original gray paint. It shows no signs of being damaged ever. The hood and deck lid aren't original but they were not bolted on when I got the car so I assume the original parts were good and used for another car. I've seen Carfax reports that don't start until after the police auction it, but not ending after auction. I don't know how long Mn. kept their SSP's, but it almost looks like this one was kept 5 years. Who else would put on 130K miles in 5 years, especially when half of that time is in snow. I can see this one is going to be interesting. Doug

Hi Doug - My MSP SSP came out of service early in 1993...and off the top of my head it was around 70,000 miles. The CarFax reports I've pulled on about 1/3 of the MSP SSP's appeared to come out when they hit a similar # of miles.
