If owning 1 of 20 is good, owning 2 of 20 has got to be better.

Believe it or not, I am now the owner of another Minnesota State Patrol Mustang. Even stranger than now owning 10% of the 20 used here, this one was located 21 miles from my house, is the same color (Dark Shadow Blue Metallic — 7N, original paint) and is one VIN lower (...193410 vs. ...193411). It has 135k miles and is 99% rust free (inside of trunk lid lip is only area in need of immediate attention). On the negative side it has the wrong wheels (but new tires) and the correct spare is gone (cardboard is still there), missing radio, has rattle can paint on valve covers and intake, generic upper radiator hose, and the exhaust from the cats back has been replaced by some Cherry Bombs and turn downs under the car (need the stainless pipes from the mufflers back, which the owner says he can get for me, and is included in the deal). All the numbers match on the body panels, all buck tags are intact, and the State of MN asset number sticker is on the inside of the driver's side A-pillar. The interior is very original and nice with the exception of the dash speaker covers being painted white along with the shifter bezel. The guy I bought it from only had it for 2 months and he got it in trade from the original owner who bought it at auction (1/5/93). The auction buyer wanted to buy a $3,300 4-wheeler, but had no cash so he traded the SSP straight-up. This car had been on Craigslist since October 20th and I just happened across it today when I was looking for some used Mustang wheels. Opportunity knocked and I answered! I will have my own pictures tomorrow. :danceban:

Beggers can't be choosers!

Congratulations on a rare opportunity with a rare group of cars.
One man could only be so lucky!

I do indeed feel lucky. It must have been fate, as my wife was out of town (in the air coming home) and could not be reached for consulting purposes before the purchase decision was made. Hopefully when I bring it home tomorrow and she see's it in the garage she'll think I got the other SSP back out of storage to do some work on it. To her cars are just "hunks of metal" and "necessary appliances", so she does not pay close attention to my SSP(s). :D

The fact that you have 2 of 20 may seem unique, but the fact you have 2 vehicles that old and only 1 number off on the vin is really bizarre!

Thanks for the congrats! I'm thinking of trying to save the original paint and restoring this one to the way it was when delivered to the dealer (before LEO equipment was installed) and show them side by side as a "before and after" pair.

This one has a strange story that goes along with an unused bullet on a key chain that hangs from the map light (was left hanging in car by Trooper when sold at auction according to original owner after State Patrol). The story was told by the original buyer to the owner I got the car from who relayed it to me last night. I'm going to do some research on this story before I pass it along, as I don't want to perpetuate any urban myth.
