Taking a chance
Well, hopefully by this time tomorrow, I'll own my first SSP. I bid on one through our state auction today. I don't know much about it since it is about 3 hours away. This is what I know; it has never been privately owned and went straight from service to the local community college where it was used for drivers training for BLET until about 8 months ago. It is a 90 model. It is white now, but I have no idea what agency or what color it was. Usually the CCs got old state cars, so I assume it was DMV or HP. The vin is listed in the CUN list for SSPs.
I hope to know later this evening if I got it. I'll keep my fingers crossed. |
Congrats! Can't wait to hear more about this one!

Good luck! :)

Thanks, I hope I didn't bid too low. The bad thing about the state surplus auctions is that you bid just once and hope it is the highest bid. I would be willing to bid against people, but I don't want to spend too much for something sight unseen. You just don't see too many anymore that are just coming out of public service.

Well, I didn't get it. It went for a little over $1600 bucks. If I had bid just a little higher, I would have gotten it. Maybe they'll default and it will get relisted. Anyway, here is the link so you take a gander. Only his one pic though.

Sorry to hear that you were not able to get it. Here's a quote of the ad...

CHP does the same with the cars out of the area offices.
Seal bids can be tough, because you don't want to spend alot but you don't know who else is bidding like a normal auction. My dad bought an 06 Crown Vic that had 90k miles at a local auction. It was listed as parts only as stuff was robbed off of it for other cars, and the trans was bad. My dad spent around $1200 and the next highest bidder was less than $500. But, the car didn't have a bad trans and drove excellent! So the it was worth the money. Never know what will happen with these auctions |
