I just picked up a 88 lx coupe that has the 2 buck tags with dso police on them, also seems to have all the other things that make it a special service package car. What I'm wondering is there a way to find out where it served and how it was used?

Easy place to start is searching for your VIN in the VIN Project and see if it falls in a batch of other VINs with any of those identified. If there aren't any, the DSO on the VIN label would help determine the region it was originally ordered out of.

Can you post any pics of the car? Are there any markings or anything under the hood, door jambs, etc.?

Here is a link to the '88 page, which you can scan through to find your VIN -

Records are very very scarce on DSO 83 (GSA aka Fed. Gov't) cars. You're probably not going to find much on how the federal government used it. Only way that's gonna happen is if you find another one with the same 1988 special order number (0079) that has a known useage.
