1985 Mustang SSP 5spd 5.0 Fox Body CHP Patrol Car - Restored - $9000 (South OC)

Bought and used for 3 magazine photo shoots, static display, and a mini-documentary. Selling as we no longer need it. Restored 1985 California Highway Patrol SSP Mustang. Engine was rebuilt with a .030 overbore, Comp Cams 266R cam, roller rocker arms, JBA shorty headers and an Edelbrock Performance carburetor, so it is very quick. Sub-frame connectors were added to strengthen the chassis. Rear end and brakes are from a Mustang Cobra, so they are larger and stronger. Black portion of the car was painted in 2010 and the white was painted in January of 2014 along with all new decals. Car runs and drives very well.

Emergency equipment is included but NOT functional and the car does not have a siren. Interior is in nice condition. Carpet was replaced at one point and the seats are in good shape. Speedometer is not functioning at the present time, but I have a complete dash cluster with all the components from another SSP car, so it has the 140mph calibrated speedometer. It will just need to be installed.

Registering as non-op as we do not intend to drive it around without devising a way to cover decals with magnetic sign material (10ft roll included but not cut to size yet) or simply wrapping the white doors with a black wrap that is easily removed. Not legal to drive around as shown. Front spot lights come with covers.

Look familiar. I like the tag!!!
Still has the bad paint break!

shame they used such an incorrect car for a "photo shoot" and documentary.

That's the same vanity plate I had on the car when it was all-black. At least the asking price is much more in line with the condition of the car (even with the bad paint break). I wonder what happened with the correct wheels and caps I included in the sale? I doubt the correct front brakes were put on the car either (the 10-holes were required to clear the 11" front brakes). The car's issues are fixable, if someone wants to make the effort. Conversely, Rob in Canada is selling his restored 85 CHP for slightly more coin, and it does not need all of those issues fixed.

I know. It looks more like a clown car with the paint issue and black sail panel. Most folks won't know that the 10-holes are not correct. The decklid markings in the attached photo do not exactly match the in-service pic below -

Even more so than the incorrect wheels, it sticks out like a giant wart!

It's listed again with a price cut of $100 - now $8,900. That most likely means he'd take less. It's a shame for the seller because I believe he was the one who overpaid for the car from the flipper in NJ.
