ORG Data ---> Agency Usage
With the passing of Mike Riley, the ORG website has not been renewed. Without having the pass code with the hosting company, hobbiests cannot pay the fee on his behalf to put the site back up. The technical information from their forum is likely lost to the ages. There is a way, however, to see some of the pages from the site. With the help of Kevin Marti and Mick from FEP, we were able to pull info from an online archive site (Google "Wayback Machine"). I copied some text and regenerated a new, updated table to identify Agency Usage by State of SSP Mustangs -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...yusage2023.htm There is now a link to it at the bottom of the main page for the VIN Project. |
It is interesting to note that the estimated number of SSP Mustangs purchased by Utah Highway Patrol is 521 (again, estimated). That number was determined by adding up consecutive VIN batches with UHP cars (which is not 100% accurate due to several reasons). So UHP is neck & neck with SCHP, who we know based upon unit numbers had ordered at least 506 SSP Mustangs. As such, UHP may have been the 4th largest purchaser of SSP Mustangs: CHP=1st; FHP=2nd; and TxDPS=3rd.
Cool stuff! |
I changed the agency names into hyperlinks to their respective page here of in-service photos. If you have any photos to add, let me know and we will add them. TIA!
|
I may have posted this already, but the Agency Usage Page is now tallied at the bottom to show how many state agency SSP Mustangs were ordered each year. Italicized numbers are estimated, which applies to all years of production.

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/Gallery/ISPG.html It's the first photo I have seen of a DSP Mustang, other than the one in the Powell's museum. The car looks fresh and sports a DSP Trooper license plate on the front bumper. It may be a restored car versus an in-service photo. Regardless, it is worth inclusion due to the rarity of these cars. I do not know the owner or photographer. |
man.... I was the one who found his site completely gone when I was reaching out on something. I was sick to the stomach that we lost so much data in that website, thankfully some of you guys saved some.... hope we can add more and save this website as long as possible.

I have a binder of color copies of various technical sections from .Org, including the vehicle usage section.
|
I also had PDF’d Tech sections of .org if anyone needs me to email them if they will be useful here…
I really wish there was a way to get the .org forum content back…. |
Just curious if anyone has any .org info RE: historical TX unit tech or info that may have been posted over there that is in a format that could be emailed?
