That would be a wise move. I paid $3986 for mine (OK, it was $4K "as-is" minus the $14 of change in the ashtray - I did say it was as-is). It looked like this -
I paid slightly more than the purchase price for the body work, paint, interior, and CHP parts to have it look like this -
I have yet to touch the drivetrain, which was "restored" at one point. So I would have been money ahead had I bought John's car. Still, I have ZERO regrets about my efforts to bring this car back to life.
