As expected, the car failed DMV inspection. I was
THIS CLOSE to getting past the safety inspection (due to the car's age I believe), but the second inspector had a trainee so she put me through the ringer to show him all that could be checked. It failed for the passenger-side highbeam and the two license plate lights. Emissions were a-OK, as was everything else. So I was able to get a 30-day temporary paper plate that allows me to drive the car. I will jump the headlight issue and give a look-see on the rear decklid for those lights. I got to run it a bit on I-95, and she seems pretty solid.
