Smile 1985 CHP #8337 - My First SSP

This is my first SSP
My dad (and mom) gave me this car for my 16th birthday.
It was a California Highway Patrol Mustang back in the day. It will once again be one in the future I have no intentions of modding this car in anyway, other than making it look better than it did when it was new

It appears to have 127k original miles with 2 repaints- white before sold by the CHP, and white again). Car is mostly all original (still has the plugs the CHP put in the holes on the interior A pillar), headers, stereo, tires, and front bumper are not original. Interior is still pretty nice, all the plastics will need to be freshened up with some dye, new upholster will be needed as well, but is driver quality. The drivers seat was switched to the passenger side due to failure (brackets bent or a bolt broke). Pulling up the dash pad revealed one speaker with no indication there was ever more than one installed.

You can still see where all the equipment was mounted - spotlight holes, shotgun rack holes on dash, whip antenna base hole, roof antenna hole, reflective tape on doors is still visible so is the unit number. Underneath the white paint the car wears now, is the CHP repaint which was white. Underneat that you can still see shiny black and white paint in places where One Day did not sand before painting. The front bumper is not original and needs to be replaced, as it is deteriorating away.

The kid my dad got the car from (my dad traded a real clean 97 Crown Vic straight across, a month later the Crown was totaled. If my dad hadn't done the trade, or couldn't, it could have been the SSP) drove the car to his girlfriends house one night. The next morning he went to start the car and it would do nothing but crank over. That afternoon, he and a friend started replacing stuff like spark plugs and wires. They did not put the wires back on the correct way so the car would still not start. A week or so after that my dad traded the Crown for the car. My dad tried getting the car to start, it had all the essentials to run, but wouldn't do anything more than crank over. My dad didn't have the time to look anyfurther so the car has just sat until now.

Today I somewhat fixed the RF fender (still bent), and worked on getting it running. I had asked on FEP what the problem could be a couple months ago. I checked all those things (my dad already knew some of the suggestions were not the prob), then I decided to check the plug wires. Looking in my shop manual, none of the wires were in the right spot on the distributor cap. My friend Bert help get all the wire in the for sure right spot (he is a mechanic and really smart). We poured some gas in the carb and turned the key. It started to sputter and came to life for about a second. Tomorrow I'm going to put some gas in the tank and see if the car will run

I am going to post A LOT of pics for my first few posts to show all the documenting I did and what has been done
