Rearview Mirror
I am looking for an inside rearview mirror for my CHP car. I just received the correct bracket for the front mounted light from Coplight.com. He still had one laying around (new) and sent all necessary hardware. Now all I need is a rearview mirror.

Jerry,
Did you see the auctions I posted about? The guy had several of these lights for sale for $19.99. The light I have has a very generic rearview attached...like the kind you'd find at Autozone or Pep Boys. It justs bolts onto the bracket (not sure if the bracket is the same one that you just received or not). I added pics to the CHP Resto doc if you want to compare the two.

The bracket is almost identical to the one shown in the resto guide, except for a few differences. First, its is about 2 inches wider than the light itself, probably 3 inches bigger than the bracket shown. (I have one like that also). Second, mine only has four mounting holes with the holes furthest from windshield oblong. It also has two small holes to attach a flat sqaure peice to cover where the flip down map light goes. I am trying to post a pic, but have to compress the file.

Yours or the one Charles posted on .org could be the same as what's on this '89 SMPV (shows up better in the full-size photo):
Here's another '89 SMPV and a different style light: http://www.sspmustang.org/alex/smf_photo_AG_5.htm This one has the shroud around the light and is more like the ones that were adopted when that light became a standard item. BTW, this SMPV is still showing up in the smog test database so it's out there and being driven. But I just discovered that an identical blue '89 to this one was destroyed in a hellacious night wreck that almost killed the officer. He was responding code 3 and passing stopped traffic on the right shoulder of I-5 north of San Diego when he rear-ended a parked car with no lights on. |

The shoe is too big for a Mustang mirror but that could be changed. What a deal. |

Nice pics.
Yes...that was a good deal. I didn't need another, and figured someone here could use one. I could double-check the one I have, but I think the mirror was a bolt-on.

Jerry, Perhaps yours should be installed off to the right side as seen in this photo??? This may allow you to retain the factory mirror location.
