Default Detective used to own my SSP

While doing some research using the paperwork that Mike Patterson had collected on my Minnesota State Patrol SSP, I found that the son that the original owner (after it was auctioned by the state) sold the car to in 2000 is a Scott County, MN Sheriff's Office Detective. I have emailed and left a voicemail for him and will let you know what info he has on the car for me. I specifically want to find out when it was repainted and by who (they did a great job). Wish me luck!
Bob

That's great news Bob. It will be interesting on the paint as seems hard to believe the original would look so great. Definately a very nice repaint if that's what it turns out to be.

I received a phone call today while at the All Ford car show (got 2nd place to a mint 89 12k mile LX hatch) from the original owner of my SSP. He told me about how in 1998 his son was going to drop out of college and how he offered to give him the SSP if he would graduate. So in 2000 he signed the car over to his son who is now the detective I mentioned earlier. He said the car was in amazing shape when he bought it at auction in 1993 and had it totally repainted in the Fall of 1997 after a co-worked backed into the drivers side (minor damage) and to take care of some normal paint wear from when it was in service. He also told me had the mufflers replaced with NOS, the heater core replaced, and changed out the stock gears for a 3:55 set (really woke it up he said). He also confirmed that it did have the base am/fm radio (no cassette), but his son swapped that out for an after-matket cd player when he owned it. He said he looks forward to seeing it at a car show and to call him anytime with any questions. A good day!

Nice research...really helps put some pieces together on the history. Congrats on the award too at a very tough show to win an award at. I should know having entered cars into that show the 6 years we lived there.

Good deal! Half the fun with these cars is tracking down their history.
