Hello,
I just returned to Michigan from a 5 day visit back home to Missouri for deer season (saw alot of deer - mostly does and a small spike buck - well unfortunately saw a nice 6-8 point buck while heading to my parents 2 days before season began). While in Missouri my father and I made a side trip this past Friday to visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol HQ in Jefferson City, Missouri. Objective of our trip was two fold...one for an opportunity I had to meet the Trooper who was assigned to my Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Mustang SSP the whole time it was in service and second was to see the 1988 SSP in the MSHP Museum. With help from a number of people (Ray Miller and Eric Prince from this SSP Forum and Sgt. Breen and Lt. Rice from the MSHP) I've been able to steadily learn more and more about my 1993 MSHP SSP from when it was in service. One of the more compelling pieces of information was the Police Report from the single car accident my vehicle was involved while in service. This uncovered the Trooper who was assigned to my SSP and subsequent phone conversation and email exchanges. Also led to an in service photo that Eric Prince had as well as receiving 3 other in service photos Trooper Rice had taken of his SSP when he drove it. Trooper Rice was assigned to the SSP all 3 years it was in service and is now a Lt. in the MSHP. He was gracious enough to spend 30 minutes or so with my father and I during our visit; pose for a photo with me in front of the 1988 SSP in the Museum (see attached) and write and sign a note to me on one of the in service photos he provided (see attached. Have made great progress on acquiring all the electronics / equipment the MSHP equipped their 1993 SSP's. Have acquired the 3 radios; the scanner; radar and all the radar goodies; antennas; etc. Most significant items remaining is the light bar and light bar / siren control box. Eric Prince was kind enough to find nices ones in 1 day where I'd been looking for nearly 3 months and is helping refurbish them for my restoration. This is the car I bought from Jeff Gill over the summer. Attached is recent photo in the current black and white paint scheme that was applied when it became a DARE car. If all goes as planned it will be returned to its' original white color and the electronics / equipment will be installed this winter so it's ready some time in the Spring. Thanks for reading...this has been a fun journey.
