Wow ... that rotary dial looking bat-phone is awesome! I remember having a cellular phone in a gym bag, but nothing like that. Only thing missing is the trooper's beeper clipped on the visor.

I believe that NC still uses those handsets as mics. They were originally used with the Micor radios.
