So I rebuilt the carb for the '82...
And I made the mistake of waiting a week between tear down and rebuild, and dammit if I don't have a screw left over. It is making me crazy...
It has a really shallow straight slot for a driver: Anyone recognize it?

It looks like one of the "tamper-resistant" choke screws (I think the heads broke off when they were installed, by design).

I think you guys are right. My carb kit came with three replacement screws, for the choke housing. Two of the ones that came out were like the ones that came with my kit and that must have been the third, someone must have rebuilt the carb before and lost one of the replacement screws and just cut a slot in the head of this one. I thought that they were all the same but when I made my leftover parts count there were just two of the regular screws and that odd ball one. Whew, what a relief!!!
Any thoughts on what a good starting point is for the idle mixture screws. One of mine was out one and a half turns and the other was out three. Now time to put it back on the damn car!
