This afternoon I went looking for my cars (CHP?) unit number. I sanded away paint above and below my cars data tag on the drivers door. As you can see in the pictures, the cat is on its third color, green. Below that is gray. And below that is white. I did not find any number painted there.
What is the bar code sticker with numbers (80003006) in my pictures? I was also told to look on the drivers side window, wasn't sure if it was the door window or quarter window. I looked on the door window by taking off the door panel. Nothing there but a couple of business cards from Las Vegas, one from a gentleman's club and another from an attorney's office. On a different subject, I also wanted to see if a spot light was ever mounted on the A-pillar, so pulled off the unmolested A-pillar trim. The A-pillar is as clean as can be. Took a magnet to the roof as well, looking for the roof antenna hole. Nothing. Looked in the trunk for holes on the drivers side quarter panel. Nothing. Don't have the metal plate covering the fuel pump wiring either.

Look on the front license plate bracket and on the back sides of the rear seat cushions also.

Lift the rear bottom cushion from the back, not the front. [/voice of experience]

Your car gets more and more interesting.
![]() http://www.specialservicemustang.net/1990CHP2.htm Check out the SMPVs in this pic. The top one, which is blue, has the lower half painted gray (hard to see in the scan, but I have the magazine and you can definitely see the color). Only antenna I can see in the pic is one on the roof.

Toshi....here is where the unit number on 8397 was found
this is consistent with other CHP Mustangs. The prep work was not that good in that they never sanded off the unit numbers that were applied with a small paint brush ...kinda like the touch up paint you buy in the auto part's store. they just painted over them......(this is a good thing) ![]()

From my experience you push the front of the cushion rearward then lift. I tried your way first just because. Could not release the cushion. Then I did it my way with no problem.

Nothing on the front license plate bracket and nothing on the rear seat cushion.
