As you know I recently purchased a 1989 Minnesota State Patrol SSP Mustang. As a result it puts me over my 2 Mustang household statute of limitations. Unanticipated as it was 2 weeks ago, I'm not putting this SSP up for sale. Given all of the research I have done on NCSHP Mustangs, my loss will be someone else's gain. I'll do my best to describe in detail...contact me w/questions. Photos, documentation, etc. available on my Fotki album http://public.fotki.com/MOstang/must...orth-carolina/
This 1990 Special Service Package Mustang originally purchased, owned and in-service with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) 1990 to 1992. This NCSHP SSP is FAS (Fixed Asset Service) # 731074 and it is PIN # 0112. These are very important numbers to validate the car was with the NCSHP. I purchased this Mustang in August 2009. This is one of very few NCSHP SSP's, which are returned to the correct black and silver paint scheme for those that were marked vehicles. Just prior to auctioning off their Mustangs, the NCSHP repainted them in various colors (e.g. blue, white, black, red). In the case of my vehicle, it was painted shade of blue just prior to being auctioned to its' first civilian owner. Returned to silver and black by the owner I purchased this SSP from. This SSP comes with documentation proving it was originally a silver and black NCSHP SSP. Extras: Vehicle will come with one of my originally authored bound 42 page NCSHP History & Restoration Guidebooks. Includes authentic used 1990 NCSHP license plate (also have a reproduction NCSHP plate). Reproduction of the "State Owned" front license plate. NCSHP flashlight. Car show sign I unfortunately bought in past couple months. Binder full of all the documentation/etc including vehicle and dealer information card proving provenance; hand-written notes on traffic stops from Trooper who drove this Mustang; sunglasses believed to have belonged to the Trooper (based upon where found); small note card size procedure document; document speedo certifications. Interior: All the correct NCSHP labels are intact on inside left side dash helping prove provenance. Crystal blue cloth interior / dash is black and blue. Interior is in very nice condition, with mild amount of fading from the hot North Carolina sun. Power doors/locks. NCSHP disconnected one of the auto locks. Elbow rest delete as the NCSHP mounted VASCAR over the emergency brake. NCSHP added map light. 1 key works everything; relocated trunk release where you'd expect. A prior owner needed to replace the speedo and it was done with a 140 MPH one. Based upon speedo certification cards my best guess is that was done in 1996. Exterior: Have all the correct magnetic backed NCSHP emblems to apply for car shows. Body is straight...no issues with the panels. If I were keeping the SSP, I intended to replace the quarter windows. They've been weathered from the hot North Carolina sun. If you apply armor-all on them they look fine at car shows. I have an NOS set, but they are not for sale. I might be willing to sell them if someone wants to discuss price. Black and silver paint shows and shines up great. It is a single stage paint job, but very well applied. Pictures do a good job of depicting the paint quality. As test prior owner buffed a small section of the black paint just below the driver side mirror, which looks real nice. As I am satisfied with showing it as is have not been compelled further. Mechanical: Mileage at this time is 150,819. BUC tags are present stapled in the usual place. Previous owner had the auto transmission rebuilt. They also had new struts installed and the A/C completely upgraded to the newer refrigerant. This SSP offers a nice smooth ride. It must have a small oil leak somewhere in the engine as I've found spot under the car. I have not researched to find out where the leak is coming from. Electronics: As my research and electronics acquisition process has been ongoing I have not hard wired anything into the SSP yet. Wanted to make sure I had everything as it would be before hard wiring so as to avoid extra work later. I have the correct headlamp flasher; front blue light; rear blue deck lights; high band antenna; customized a mounting tree to be visually like the NCSHP one; VASCAR; Motorola radio and speaker; Motorola telephone style handset; Tait mobile repeater and Tait handheld radio donated by NCSHP (this is the rare and highly desired Tait mobile repeater and Tait handheld radio which was spec'd specific for NCSHP - most have been scrapped and 99.99% are out of service now). Again items are mounted but not wired in at this time with exception of headlamp flasher and rear deck lights not in car. Pictures available on my Fotki site (link top of listing) depicting what/how items are presently mounted. I am listing for sale at $8,900, which is less than I have invested into this SSP Mustang. While I need to sell this SSP, I'm not in a big hurry to do so and would be happy to continue enjoying it for awhile. I have had a great deal of fun researching and working on this SSP. It is important for me to see this remain in the community of the forum and hopefully it will work out that way. I will remain a resource to whoever buys this SSP; publish a Volume 2 of my Guidebook while continuing my research of North Carolina State Highway Patrol SSP Mustangs. Thank you for looking and feel free PM me with any questions or email to ann_mike_patterson@msn.com (by the way those are underscores between the names in my email address). I will list it for sale on eBay this Sunday.

Good luck with the sale Mike. While reading through the detailed description, I kept thinking the asking price was gonna be higher than what you've got it listed for. That's a lot of SSP for the dollar IMO. Hope it finds a good home!

Gentleman - Thank you for the kind words. This Minnesota one is only one of two agencies that had a chance to pry this NCSHP Mustang out of my hands. It will be a fun car for someone and they will be able to jump in and enjoy right away!

Hello - Just a quick update to let you know this SSP will not be listed today on eBay as had been indicated in the listing above. It has been sold to an SSP enthusiast (not sure if member here but they are member of .org) and I could not be happier knowing it is going to a good home and will be well take care of.
I will leave it up to the buyer as to whether they would like to step forward or not. If something should change I will pass that along in this post. Thanks again for all the positive feedback.

Thanks Hector. The 90 NCSHP SSP loaded up on the carrier late this afternoon for its trip back home (to Charlotte). Sorry to see it go but at the same time it will be one less distraction to take my eye off the ball on the Minnesota SSP return to in-service specs this summer/fall (if all goes well).
