Any “valid” interest in FHP0665?
It pains me to write this but I am entertaining the ideal of someone else taking over to reins to hopefully bring back FHP0665 to her old glory.
The short & sweet basics: 1988 FHP SSP that has been with me since October 1991 after going to auction when I purchased with only 78k miles on it (yes, 21 years ago). Currently it has 243k on the odometer as it was used for my daily driver until about 6-7 years ago when it was parked in my garage due to the clutch starting to go out on it (from what I assume). Up until that point, it was the best damn car I have owned to date! The last time I started it was about 3 years ago and it still ran strong with the exception of the clutch issue where it was starting to "gear grind" when the clutch pedal was released. Before getting parked it had the usual minor oil leaks (valve covers – main seal) that caused me to top it off with about ¾ - 1 quart of extra oil between changes. The way I figured, it always had fresh oil in it. I’m quite sure sitting this long may have not “fixed” that issue. The other issues I recall would be the A/C that I did not repair after going out for the better part of the time I have owned the car, a leaky front windshield when it rained hard enough, and some pretty “loose” rear shocks. It is solid in every other way and virtually rust free. I have had full intentions of resurrecting it for some time now but also have been plagued by the “time & money” issue. Besides having a personal attachment to it, the irony is that I am also a State Trooper and would love to retain a piece of history from the agency that I am employed by which is my dilemma. I also look at it every time I open my garage door and think it is being held captive for no purpose other than my own attachment. Decisions… decisions… |

Not many SSP's around with a story like that. Please post some pictures so we can convince you to keep it.

The exterior if fair and I had it painted with an average paint job back in 1992 which surprisingly held up well with the exception of around the windows where it has flaked and you can see the "Tan" peering through...

As you can see, the steel visor shades are intact however I removed the spotlight a few years back after it stopped working properly but I left the bracket for it and sealed up the hole.

Not to brag but the interior is bar none and I think you would be hard pressed to find one in better shape for a "daily driver". I did replace the "holy" dash and exercised the option to play CD's instead of just good 'ole AM/FM...

I think we should have another 'barn party', but this time in your garage to throw a new clutch in it.
