Please help, My 1990 SSP Mustang has an overheating issue.
I saw coolant on the pavement when I arrived home from work and it was running hotter than normal. I also am smelling antifreeze. I also herd some bubling sound inside my car when I arrived home. When it cooled I checked the radiator and it was empty. All troubleshooting help is appreciated. Tomorrow I am going to check for a leak or damaged hose. I do not see any coolant coming out of the water pump seep hole.

1990 NC SSP Overheating
Is the carpet on either side damp? Is there a strong smell of antifreeze inside the car? Does the windshield fog up? These are all indications of a leaking heater core. If nothing inside is wrong, check the small heater hoses at the back of the engine that connect to the heater core through the firewall. The oil cooler is another possibility if the radiator and top and bottom hoses aren't leaking.

Thanks for all of the help.
Thanks for the help. Will put my car up on ramps and let it run a while to heat it up to check for leaks. I suspect a faulty hose or water pump. The leak was in between the front wheels or closer to the drivers side. I will work on it Saturday when we are in the 60s. Will keep all of you posted.
Thanks, Randy |
