A video was posted on Instagram from 1990 showing a news broadcast about the CHP program using Specially Marked Patrol Vehicles. The featured SMPV Mustang was an 89 that plainly showed the license plate number (i.e. the CHP Unit Number). The car was already in out VIN Project -

I will try to posted the full video, unless someone else beats me to it.

Good find! Yes please post the video when you have time. Will you link the video to the VIN in the VIN Project?

That's my plan. It is a large file, which our site can host. I just need to get it transferred here.

Here is a 1993 SSP from the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office that we are able to add:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info157088.htm

It appears to be in a batch of 2 consecutive VINs (later corrected to a single VIN). The owner contacted me on FB and asked to have his SSP added to our Project.
This was from January 2015. If anyone has any current information about this car, please let me know. Someone contacted me about trying to locate it.

Question

Hey Bill,

Just curious if you know anything about this one or if it’s in the VIN registry:
https://www.corral.net/threads/1993-...#post-18778306

Was it the brochure car? Does it still look like that today or did next buyer strip the car down?

I have no information on that SSP, although I vaguely remember someone commenting years ago about cloning their car to be in that livery. I just sent an email to the address listed in the article. Let's see if the (then-)owner replies.

Default 1990 TXDPS #M0-223

This 1990 Texas SSP surfaced on FB still wearing its blue DPS repaint -

Owner plans to restore it!

I am still trying to pin down the VIN on this 1986 Idaho SSP that turned up on FB. Note, you can still make out the faded unique ISP markings on the hood and fender.

That’s a cool VIN Project find!

How is the owner stripping the blue paint without stripping the white under it?
