Default 1988 CHP #2914

The CHP #2914 SSP that came back home!!

I was very fortunate to be able to drive the mustangs when they were still in service! When the opportunity came up to purchase one that was not all race modified I could not pass up the opportunity. I’ve enjoyed driving this CHP SSP the past several years. It was a blast to drive to work and park it next to in service patrol cars of the present. I would trade stories with other senior members in the office and trade mustang stories from the past. I must say it has been a great conversation piece to all the area CHP offices I have visited in the past few years!
I wanted to first post it up on this site to find a buyer who will enjoy it the way it sits or restore it back to in service condition. I would rather not post it on craigslist where it may have the potential to be transformed into a full blown drag car! I will patiently wait until it goes to a good home.
Does not overheat, sputter, die etc. Runs excellent!
As it sits, it makes a great daily driver! Body, engine, interior in great condition.

Mileage when taken out of service: 86,163 miles

This information was obtained from the assignment card which I have possesion.
Clear CA title with “Prior Police” on the title and CA registration card which also states “Prior Police”.
I obtained this car in 2008
My intention was to keep the car stock but to make it a better handling car, but still make the appearance STOCK. These are the changes I have made:
The engine is stock from the top down except I converted the speed density to an OEM Mass Air for better gas mileage and cleaner emissions. (The speed density intake and ECM will come with the car if the new owner ever wants to run speed density)
I replaced the “aftermarket” mid pipe and cat back that was on the car with an “OEM” low mileage piece! The OEM exhaust has 50,000 miles with no rust and looks good as new!
All new shocks and struts
New radiator
New clutch
New brakes
New tires Kuhmo ASX 225/60/15 (including new tire Kuhmo ASX on the 10 hole spare)
Maximum motorsports caster/camber plates (black)
Upper and lower rear control arms (black)
Stock 3.08 gears with fresh Royal Purple fluid.
The front seats had rips and the carpet was really soiled and worn out. Luckily I had an extra pair of mint mustang GT seats and an extra carpet kit installed to make it more comfortable during daily driving. The rear seats were in great shape and were left in the car. When I pulled out the old carpet the floor pan revealed there was no rust! Something I expected since the SSP remained in CA since it left the CHP.
When I obtained the vehicle the previous owner converted the manual windows to power. Since my intention was to use it as a daily driver, I found it to be a welcome addition.
