Default CHP #E408395 1985 Mustang

First, here's the CHP Assignment Card for my car #8395 -

I edited out my VIN, but it is there on the card and matches the number on my car. You'll note that the unit number is listed that my car replaced, as well as the unit that replaced my car is also listed. Also, I was told that the equipment notation of a "dot inside the square indicates" a slicktop. My car had been wrecked, and it looks like the repair was made at the same time as it being repainted the Metallic Silver (see the deductible notation).

Default E413732 1986 Mustang

The second car is owned by 1986CHPSSP on ORG -

It appears as though this car was reassigned during it's time while in-service. The original location was erased.

Default E432496 1988 Dodge Diplomat

The third of four cards I rec'd was not for a Mustang, but was instead a 1988 Dodge Diplomat owned by chpns1 -

Given the sale price, I suspect that the car was sold without being repaired after the accident.

Default E408445 1985 Mustang

The final card in this installment is the one for SMPV #8445, which was an original B&W 1985 Mustang that the CHP repainted for the first SMPV's (Specially Marked Patrol Vehicles). Here's an in-service picture -

Since I knew the entire number for this vehicle, I decided to see if the card could be found. Sure enough, the card has outlasted the vehicle (at least for now). CHP #8445 lived a VERY interesting life while in-service. Take a look -

I removed the VIN from the picture. The CHP certainly got their money's worth outa #8445!

Those are great! Thanks for posting that up!

The one above with the 55MPH project notation is probably one of the cars marked with the alternate decals. That is too cool.

I wish he could locate my card. Sparks sent me a faxed copy of it, so I know it's still floating around, but I can't really read the copy.

The car on the card looks like an 86 and all but one of the pictures of the alternate marking cars that I have seen were 81 and 82 model year cars. That does make me curious.

I share your curiosity about that time frame. All that I've seen were Diplomats, never seen any photos of a Mustang with the markings associated with that federally funded 55 MPH program applied (aside from the '92 EVOC car with the rear seat delete panel marked with it), anybody here have any or seen them? Hard to say if that '86 was specially marked or not without more documentation, but anything is possible.
