Default 1987 Utah car on eBay....

Looks like a NCHP clone with the deckblasters and radio.

I was thinking the same thing as the interior equipment setup caught my attention. It is very similar to what the NCSHP used. Car's located in NC, so don't know if that's a coincidence or not as to the similar setup.

Not sure whether or not Utah used that type of setup. The Tait T-8000 mobile repeater in this car is a very rare piece needed for visually accurate interior equipment look for an NCSHP. I was able to get the last one the NCSHP found in their equipment storage trailers.

Was surprised to see that in this car. If someone buys the car and goes to put a Utah setup in it, would be good opportunity to get the Tait piece in the hands of one of the people with NCSHP's who are doing an interior return to in-service.

I agree.....and its been awhile since I looked at the UHP setups, but I don't think it's correct. The Real Stories of the HP episodes show the UHP stuff for that period, but I'm sure Bernie knows exactly what's what.

I might email him and ask if he wants to sell all the equipment out of the car. I may have a NCHP car someday.

I was thinking from the Real Stories episodes they had some type of radio tree setup in them, but I think those SSP's featured were early 90's ones. Not sure how the earlier ones were equipped.

It couldn't hurt and will be the toughest piece of equipment to find. I corresponded with a retired gentleman who procured the Tait T-8000 mobile repeaters (Angus Tait Manufacturing out of New Zealand) when he worked for the NCSHP.

My understanding is that Tait essentially designed these per the spec the NCSHP was asking for in their Request for Proposal (RFP) at the time. I was also told the NCSHP were the only ones who purchased them (as it was a specially spec'd for them). Evidently they never quite worked right to begin with (probably because the NCSHP was basically the test case) and after "working them" and "working them" until each unit could no longer be nursed along, they would get scrapped in an ultimately unfunctional state. My radio engineer contact there mentioned they should have bought the Motorola equivalent that existed at the time. 99.99% of the Tait T-8000's have been removed from the NCSHP vechicles but supposedly a few are still out there. I was lucky to get the one I have and they had to look hard and in all the equipment trailers around the state to find it.

I found an in service pic of a utah car taken by Ginsburg. It was a 4 eyed car also. That is what I used to gather the equip for the Utah car I sold Bernie.

I would also like to find a radio system used by Washington SP. They are few and far between.

I don't think he took many of those himself. I hear it's a pretty nice collection, though.

Does anyone have a close up pic of the Tait repeater? We purchased some of the old HP stuff here and we have some boxes of some stuff left. I know we used the same radios and handsets, but not sure about the repeater. I remember some of the guys at work talking about not being able to get some of the HP stuff working right.

Duh....did a search and found a good pic. We never used those, but I remember some of the Troopers here with them. I'll check around, maybe they can scrounge one up.
