I'm fortunate to be able to share that I've acquired from the NCSHP a Tait T800 25 watt VHF mobile radio controller / crossband repeater / handheld radio charger unit along with a correct Tait TU2500 handheld.
Link to a photo from an 89 NCSHP SSP where you can see the controller & handheld. http://www.specialservicemustang.net...2&d=1253492249 Plus I've attached a photo of the controller & handheld I received today. They also sent the trunk mounted radio (not pictured). This whole system was specifically designed and made special or the NCSHP. Unfortunately as I understand the controller and system in general were prone to not working right from the very beginning. All but a hand full of these systems have been taken out of service and in 99.99% of the cases have been disposed of as junk. It's been worked over so won't be returned to being functional but that's OK. Given what I've learned about this piece of equipment I feel very fortunate to have obtained it. Required quite a bit of digging around to find along with a little luck and a few accompanying miracles. I have to say, though, the journey on this stuff is in many ways the most fun part of this particular hobby.

wow !!! excellent find. That radio looks like it is brand new too. It will look great in the car.
It is great to see you taking the steps to do this car the right way. I agree, finding the right stuff is one of the best parts of the hobby.

Gentleman - Thanks for the nice feedback! I'm pretty happy to have these items since the most rare and difficult pieces I need for the interior. Hope to pick up a few other items from them too. They continue to look around the various trailers for me to see if any other stuff I can use. Unfortunately they've come up empty on their NC State Corrections Dept. manufactured Mustang radio stand but my home grown version of it will do the trick as long as I need it to.
Joe - Thanks for the reminder. I haven't reached out to Jeff just yet but believe he and I may have corresponded since I purchased the car. I'm sure to learn some things from him. As an aside, I've been learning just a tremendous amount of information about how these cars were set up from my generous NCSHP contact. I shared with Joe during the recent car show we attended some of the data I've compiled. In the future I will publish my learnings in a guide to assist those who pursue putting their North Carolina SSP back to in-service looking condition. Thank you!
