I see. I'll do my homework on it.

So I need some help figuring out if this is a CFI engine. I looked one up online and it showed to still have a carb looking setup with a breather and all. The 85 in question has an efi stock upper and lower with injectors and throttle body ect. So my first assumption is that it has a newer engine in it. If that's the case, wouldn't it be difficult to retain the auto transmission , interior and wiring with a newer computer? I don't think it would all jive.

From what I can remember from pictures, it should look similar to a carb setup with an air cleaner. Oklahoma ran CFI's. Doesn't someone floating around here have one?

I don't know of anyone here who has one, but you are right about the air cleaner. It's a little different from the carbed version.

It's not what it was made up to be but I had to buy the damn thing. It's sitting in the garage next to the 88. I know it's not an ssp but I'm stoked about it. Turns out it's really an 86. According to the vin, it was a 5.0 HO originally equipped with a 4 bbl carb.
Yep, motor swap. It's got an efi in it but nothing is chopped or wired in. It all looks stock. It's 100 percent complete. All stock except the seats , motor, and I think it's got flows. New appearing black carpet and not a crack one in the dash or the vinyl headliner. I found one dent on the exterior worth talking about and I had to get the light right to see it. I'm debating on what to do with it. I don't think it's as rare as we suspected but it will make a fine car whether it's modded or remains original like.
The story is this, it was spotted at the auction wearing a two tone grey and white paint scheme of some sort and had gold stars on the doors. It was not in the line up but I guess he inquired about it and they agreed to sell it. Before it left the auction, they sprayed the primer on it quickly to cover the paint. It doesn't look like it was sanded, just sprayed all over.
Whatever the case may be, it's straight as an arrow, even the core support. I can't complain! $750 out the driveway with a clean crispy title. And it has a trailer hitch!!!! I have always wanted one and now I finally have one. It's serious too, a 2" ball!!

For sure. It was late when I got her put up. I'll try and post some at lunch. Threads are worthless without pics, I know. I can't wait to show it off. Just a little rough diamond.

Just an observation - the '86 models originally came with EFI. That may be why everything looks good as far as configuration/wires etc.etc. Who or what is leading you to believe that it was "Originally" equipped with a 4 bbl carb?

Not trying to start anything, just trying to understand and I may have missed something in the post. Looks like a great deal and a car to enjoy. Good luck with it.

I was confused when looking at the vin decoder. The 6,7,&8th of the vin is 26M . M for 85 was a carb. M for 86 is sefi. It is indeed stock which is a huge relief. It was a good deal. Sorry for the confusion.

Good luck with it. Factory '86 5.0 coupes whether auto or 5-spd are hard to find. Autos probably being more rare. Post some pics.
